Would you have bought any other truck of money was no object?

If money were no object, I would have at least five trucks

First, I'd have a Tacoma exactly like my current one
Second, I'd have a 1 ton diesel to haul whatever I want...most likely a Duramax; only $85K last I checked.
Third, I need a Unimog custom camper
Forth, I really need a vehicle for serious off-roading, so probably either a side-by-side or a built CJ-5.
Fifth, I need either a 70 or 80 series LC for those times I want to drive across Africa, but the Unimog is too big for the roads I'm going be on.

The only truck I’ve ever felt inspiring to drive and have fun with was/is the Tacoma. Other trucks can be made to suit, but the spirit of the Toyota pickup has always connected with me. In other words, Toyota pickups have always been my vehicular passion. Cars don’t do it. Big ass work trucks don’t do it. I can appreciate them, but I’m not into them the same way. Originally I was going to retire my 1st gen to the garage, and get a Pro. But the thing about a Pro is, you really have to leave it alone, in its original state, to appreciate it as a Pro (in my opinion), and I wasn’t gonna baby my truck. And the Pro didn’t come how I like my pickups- inline 4 5speed 2 Door. So with the 3rd gen chassis being an even platform across all trims, I ended up buying exactly what I wanted, with a little extra. 2TR-FE, 5 speed, 4 wheel drive. Iron block, larger rear end, manual gearbox all made in Japan. The only issue I had was the “beard”. But it turns out that it’s grown on me so much that I wouldn’t install a free mobtown if I had the opportunity. It just looks mean as fuck AND OEM. The beard gives it that undomesticated look. It turns out that the SR ‘17 tacoma 4x4 is my favorite vehicle of all time currently, and I love getting in it everyday. I have a ton of fun on the most mundane journeys, it’s crazy. Had the dealership throw in those bronze TRD beadlocks since I ended up spending half of what I expected.

 

If money was no object and I could drive selfishly everyday as a daily driver, impractical, without any care for the environment, drove like a tool and loved wasting gas...probably a 4-door diesel.

Or... I would drive something that is actually cool and something not everyone has...this, but a Tacoma

7 is technically better It would be cool to have a spec’ed build from Brenthel or Geiser or Rigid. But I wouldn’t necessarily have fun with it. Racing is hard work, and I’ve never been into “racing” on a real competitive level. I would park that beast in a super garage, put a la z boy in front of it and eye fuck it for most of my spare time.
