I’m in favor of “Vendor” status being color coded green, yellow red based on forum feedback of wait times over a period. Something like, over 3 months is yellow and 6 months red.

Would be nice to know if owners have more than one bankruptcy

My point exactly. I don’t care if you knew them. I don’t know you. For all I know you could be either of the pelfreys (hypothetical, I don’t really believe that). But the point is that I can’t trust your judgement on wheather or not the pelfreys are good people/trustworthy. As you stated you don’t have all the info and it seems your “personal” relationship with them was abused. I only put the word personal inquotes since it seems there was a side of them you didn’t know. If anything the random people vouching for pelfrey may have delayed others from putting in cc/PayPal disputes or filing lawsuits while pelfrey secretly files for ch7.

Also there were multiple cars purchased. If you combine that fact with the recent push by pelfrey for cash payments, their delay tactics and finally their communication blackout it was pretty clear there was some shady stuff going on. Pelfrey’s statement on social media only confirmed those suspicions.

 

It's a touchy subject to say the least. You can think it just don't say it Mob mentality can get pretty crazy and i am sure there is already plenty of people already messaging them stuff like that.

 

I talked to Michael at Pelfreybilt on August 21st before purchasing a bumper online. He confirmed a 2 to 3 week lead time before my purchase. Never got word on product delivery or completion after that.

I paid with a credit card but I'm guessing I'm out the $800 some dollars I spent.

 

This was posted on the 5th gen forum website. I'm not sure of the accuracy, but it may provide some recourse to those who are looking. I'm quoting it verbatim from the original post:

Pelfreybilt had a merchant account, and I am sure their bank has shut it down by now, even though this surely already has happened or will happen, the bank that underwrote the merchant account is responsible for all the transactions, regardless of whether or not Pelfrey declares official bankruptcy.

Part of the guarantee that consumers get from the card brands (V, MC, D & Amex) and the member banks issuing cards to their customers, i.e. your credit or debit card, is that you can "chargeback" or "dispute" the transaction if you have not received your order, and the rules change when there is an advance payment for product orders, so if your own bank says you can't dispute because of the age of the transaction, you need to say to them that it was advance payment for a product and typically you then have up to 365 days, and in some cases, 545 days from the original transaction.

Just know that not every bank support for disputing transactions is versed in the fine print and different types of disputes, so know that you paid for a product to be made, and then delivered at an advance date, and now the merchant (Pelfrey) is put of business and refusing to deliver/refund, this also is relevant for merchandise that was flawed.

TL;DR: If you paid with a Visa/MC/Discovery/Amex you may be able to get your chargeback window extended for 365-545 days from the date of purchase since Pelfrey had a merchant account and it was for an advance payment.

Not necessarily. Be sure to file a complaint with your CC company. Because it was so recent, you may be OK. But seriously, they accepted your order on 8/21?

Well they would have to get a new name. The internet being full of people that will defame a name and lose their absolute mind about a situation they know nothing about.
I see a lot of vendor levels in this thread and I hope you guys never run into financial issues. Because the way the world is now, if you slip, the good people of the internet will be sure to step on your neck and kick you while you are down too.

 

@TacoRated yeah, I specifically called prior to my purchase because I had questions about shipping, paint finish, etc. He even put me on hold to double check the lead times.

 

Yup, then started bankruptcy proceedings 6 days later.

 

Who was down?

They knew what they were doing. They didn’t just fall into rough times.
