Trucks officially going back together, got a huge start on it today.... I installed the spare tire carrier. At this rate it’ll be done before 2024.

@Speedytech7 i trimmed both the side wings out personal preference. It fits up good though. I still want to plug weld all the mounting holes and re drill them so they are not slotted, then add the stiffeners inside. It is attached solid and has a new adventure now. Thank you man much appreciated. A shot from up at the lake the other day. Finally made mounts for my shocks from @joshcook if I remember right. Time to ditch the OEM leafs.

Damn, good job dude. It looks so much better than the mangled mess I handed yah haha. Looks awesome without the goofy tubes and the chopped wings are bitchin. Glad it's gonna continue to get use! Thanks again for all your help with the welding on my beater!

    Installed a Flowmaster 40 tonight.

    20180908_192749.jpg

There was a dynomax on and it was rusting on the seems pretty badly. I scored this and installed it with no problems.

    Sounds great!

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
    Here you go.

Used a piece of 1x1 angle iron and two pieces of 2 inch wide flat. Layed the flat stock in there and adjusted the angle iron to make the flat stock lay flat.

Welds look horrible cause I'm using a cheap, borrowed, flux welder... space was tight... and, well, I never claimed to be a good welder. But the connection is strong as fuck, and I only almost lit my truck on fire twice (or maybe 3 times)

Tack welded these doohickies to the base so I have 2 points to attach the battery tray on the bottom.

I'm using one of the stock bracket screws, that was there before I moved things out of the way for the battery, for the top mounting connection.

There were a few bumps in the fenderwell (from the factory) that were making everything not want to lay flat.... so I beat those with a big f'n hammer till they cooperated.

Hosed down the base with Rubberized Undercoating

    And voila!

Haven't had one done in a long time, but I could feel how thin the oil was and it was getting high in mileage at 6K for a semi-synth

Figured out why my truck was idling like shit. Heavy shaking at idle all the time.

Again, it’s my K&N Hot Air Intake. The inherent oiled nature of the filter was causing the MAF to get gummed up with carbon and oil.

Last time this happened, I got a P0171 System too Lean, but the idle was fine. Now I didn’t get a code at all and the idle was rough.

Cleaned it up, and the idle is much better. Still shakes slightly, but nothing too extreme.

I know the K&N is a garbage device, the only reason I keep it is because it sounds really nice.

I looked into just swapping the cone filter itself. AFE doesn’t make one with that inlet size, so I would have to change the entire intake.

I’m pretty sure there’s a website that can make “custom” for not a lot.

    Maybe something to look into.

Most of them are not CARB certified, unfortunately.
