I will seriously searching for this issue last night! It's absolutely ridiculously annoying.

With health and medication shit I have to keep myself in sub 70° F temps all the time. Truck is always on max ac.. I was thinking about laying some kind of a card up there to reduce the cold air on the glass. But then I worry about forgetting it and it getting cooked in the Sun haha

 

Sold my 92 5 lug with 225k miles back in May that did stuff like this. Rattled like a jackhammer sometimes at idle. Upon inspection under the dash, most of the plastic clips that held the dash to the metal supports were broken. Previous owner had stuffed a dirty shop rag up there to muffle the sound, but I bet the extra pressure just made it worse and broke more clips. I dunno. My new to me 05 5lug with 165k miles RC runs smooth as butter in comparison. Though I think I may have the throwout bearing issue that some people talk about. I hear it squeak sometimes and it shudders pretty bad on take off in first if I'm not careful with the clutch.

Nice taco, @PennSilverTaco. How does it hold up in PA Winters? I lived in Erie for 5 years and saw very few pickups/Tacomas around, I'm assuming due to rust. Now that I'm back in the desert, seems like they're all over the place.

I pressure washed the chassis several times every winter, and when my truck came up for recall in September-October 2017, they just sprayed rustproof stuff on the frame instead of replacing it because it was so clean.

I am tempted to buy a salvage 2nd Gen SR5, drown it in a flash flood, and see how hard it is to revive...

It would be a white 2005 AC SR5 4x4 4.0L/auto, pretty much your truck 10 years later, but with the radio removed...

I wonder if your truck would pass a smog test in Commiefornia...I mean, uh...California?!?!

I could probably build one good truck out of a flooded truck and a truck with severe accident damage.

 

Buy a salvage 2nd gen double cab. I think it's time for you to buy something with a little more off road capability.

No way in hell I'm getting rid of my truck! Even if I got full price for my Tacoma and dipped into my savings, I would not have enough money to pay for a decent 2009-2014 RC 4x4!

 

@PennSilverTaco, a pickup is supposed to be capable of going off road. Your truck cannot handle even the lightest 2WD trails. I think it's time.

 

You gonna pay for that? I rather have a 2WD truck than monthly payments...

 

I'm not saying you should buy a new TRD OR, but a decent 2nd gen double cab is needed.
