5" difference is not similar lol. Really not even comparable trucks. We have a 100 more hp and get 15% better mpg. Biplane versus B1B.

I'm 5'2" and I suspect it's just the dimensions of the hood. I loved my 95 Taco and wanted to love the '18 but when we test drove it (the first time) I was very put off by it. We shopped around a bunch and looked at different vehicles. Eventually we wound up back at the Tacoma and bought one. My biggest complaint is the mirrors obscure my sightlines, especially the driver's mirror and pillar. I'd mount those things at the roofline rather than at the bottom of the window, but...

The ergonomics of the seat are ok for me. It ain't a Recaro or even the stock seat in my 89 MR-2S, but it's reasonably comfy. After a month of driving it, the hood is still awfully big and the mirror placement bugs me but it's a great vehicle overall and nothing's perfect; and it's gonna tow the shit out of our 17' travel trailer.

    Amen.

So many dummies buy the truck only to find out a week later, than they dont like the product. Then they proceed to cast blame on Toyota for not building them their perfect vehicle.

Frontier has never had the sells numbers of the Tacoma. imo, sales are down because of the rumor that the 2020 model year the redesigned Frontier will be out. Also as some have pointed out the current Frontier is based on a design that came out in 2005. Sales are still up 10% over last years (based on your link).

This. The Colorado is a good truck too, and the seat can adjust much higher. I had a 2016 for a year but the shoulder room just wasn't big enough for me or else I would still have it. This is the best time of year to buy a Colorado as well - the rebates and discounts are at their peak.

    - I never have "bashed" the new Tacoma. I gave reasons why I purchased something else.
    - As far as why do I still visit this forum. For information. Much like I visit the forum for the Colorado, Ridgeline, Frontier, Ram, Ford,

It is informative and interesting to see what owners have to say about their vehicles.

There are a ton of excellent seat cushions you can add. I wish the Tacoma had electric seats like the 4Runner.

Tacoma never had that problem of rumors of new trucks and old design affecting sales.
    Just sayin.

I’m 5’2 as well and I agree about the mirrors being a big blind spot. But the seating position I feel puts me pretty high up compared to most vehicles I’ve been in which is nice since I’m short and the position I feel helps with seeing over the long hood.

When test driving the 2017 Tacoma I was thinking the hood seemed long. Then I let my mind roam to the memories of the hoods of some of the beast sedans I owned and loved (1963 Dodge 440, 1967 Ford Galaxie, 1969 Chevy Impala) and the hood length shrunk to a manageable size.

Test drive a second gen? I'm 6' even and feel the seat is too high in mine and wish I could take an inch out of it

Sales are still up from last year. Just saying.

Enjoy your Tacoma. I hope the frame doesn't rust out for you for many years. :D

I hate the taco. I am 3'7" and the wheels are too big. Need a step stool to reach the door handle....

You best check the history on Nissan rust, floor boards etc.
I had a Nissan truck once, rusted like a SOB. Had to give it away.
Never will buy a Nissan again. Last automaker I think of when thinking trucks.

Welcome & given many of us here wanted a Tacoma for years (or have owned them for years) it was a no brainer... Does it have faults, yes it does..as does every truck I have driven. I had a 2003 Tundra so I get what you are talking about, that's what I traded in for my 2018 Tacoma. The Tundra was a tad easier to see over the hood and I loved the elephant ear mirrors. The Tacoma feels like a giant Off-Road toy by comparison which is very endearing. Like yourself I could have gone full size or the Tacoma...I miss the extra room, V8, my custom exhaust. The hood is high though as pointed out that's the way all cars/trucks were until they started making those disappearing hood lines. I'm 5'9 and it works for me (GMC Sierra has adjustable foot pedals and seat/steering wheel so may be an option).
