I have purchased a set of OEM driving lights and switch from EBAY. Can anyone tell me if I can purchase from the dealer or otherwise the wiring harness for these. The lights have a simple plug in on them and a OEM harness would help with the installation. Thank you for any help you can provide. :)

are the lights you bought the round fog lights for the bumper?

sometimes the wiring for different options are still installed whether they are hooked up or not. this way it is a universal wiring harness and the assembly line doesn't have to worry about having the right harness.

have you checked for connectors behind the dash to the left of the steering wheel and on the frame behind the bumper? (assuming you bought the OEM fog lights)

Yes they are the ones that fit into the bumper of my 06 Taco. I have checked for wiring behind the bumper. I was really hopeing that it would be there and they would just plug in, but so far have not found any.

My truck is a 2007 Tacoma access cab 4X4 V6. The only option I have is the convenience package which includes power windows/door locks/mirrors, remote keyless entry, cruise control, sliding rear window with privacy glass. I ordered a set of fog lights from Advance Store, about $190 for the two lights. After removing the factory plugs the lights I bought plugged in just like the factory lights. I had crawled in under a Tacoma with factory installed fog lights to look. I had seen a coiled wire with plug taped under the fender well of my truck This factory installed wiring harness had a plug on the end exactly like the one on the factory installed fog lights on the truck I had looked at. The plug on this "factory wiring kit" plugged into the fog lights I had just installed. My next search was for a factory switch. I ordered one from eBay ($18.95) and when it arrived I found it was for a older model truck. I went to my local dealer and ask if a stock switch was available for the fog lights. He told me no but after I insisted he looked at his Tacoma parts list he found one and I ask for the stock number. The Toyota stock number is 84160 04010, my local dealer sells this switch for $54.95. I looked on line and found a on line listing for Toyota Parts. Address is http://www.toyota-parts-dealer.com/ I plugged in the part number and found the switch available for $35.48 plus approximately $10. No sales tax since it is coming from Virginia to Tennessee. Total time for installing the fog lights was about 10 -15 minutes. I removed one of the blanks on the dash and the wiring is there for the switch I ordered. I anticipate a 10 minuts installation for this switch. I am not very mechanically inclined so the route I chose works better for me.

Hey Novella, tell me what Advance store is. I know of Advanced auto parts but what is Advance store? Do you have a URL for it?

Advance Auto Parts Store, web address - www.advanceautoparts.com - . The store I shop in is in Kingsport, TN - phone number 423-246-4290 - person I talked to was Jack Jenkins. Like I have found in other auto parts stores other clerks working in the same store did not have any ideal of what I was looking for or talking about when I visited the store while Jack was on vacation. When I called and ask if I could post this information to this forum he said anyone could call him and he would help with ordering fog lights or if you have a local Advance Auto Parts Store have them call him, if not he said he could order the lights and have them shipped to you. Good Luck! Mine installed and look exactly like the factory lights on Tacoma's on the dealers lot. Before I ordered mine I had crawled under one with factory lights and they look almost exactly like the ones I installed on my truck.

FYI - The lights are not on the website. They are not "regularly" sold through the store, BUT they are on the supplier list. So, if you call Jack, he can get them for you.

    Tractor Man,

The wiring harness is installed in your truck if it is a V6, if you have the I4, then there is no fog light harness. Different engines get different harnesses.

That said, I do not know if you can get the fog light harness from the dealer seperately. I would think not since it seems to be part of the complete wiring harness for the V6 trucks. So in that case your easiest method would be to follow the DIY instructions posted by a member on here a while back, I think the thread was round lights in OEM spot or something to that effect.

Thank You ! I never thought about it, but mine is a four cylinder and driving lights were not an option offered. (I still can't figure that one out) I have read the DIY instructions of the fellow Taco member and it seems I will have to go that route. Thanks Again!

You're welcome. Good luck with your install. There is another member, Novella I think, that has found that advance auto parts is able to special order oem style lights that mount in the holes just as the stock lights would. They are set up to plug right into the oem harness, but I believe that you could probably fab up a different plug or adapter to use an aftermarket or custom harness.

Post some pics when you finish.
