Yes, they are out of control on the new sled prices. And company's like Yamaha wonder why new sled sales are down!

    In case any of the manufactures are listening (Lol);
LOWER THE DAMN PRICES AND MORE PEOPLE LIKE ME WOULD BUY ONE!

I get it with manufacture costs, they new crazy material and designs they are doing sled's aren't going to cost the same as 1998. but gheez it's getting bad when you are dropping car size monthly payments on something you get rapped with registration/insurance, and more than likely have to trailer to places..... but I am a sucker for that 2-stroke smell haha

Like its almost cheaper to buy the side by side and add the track package to it. won't be going as fast but least you can use it more

It really is an expensive hobby with all the equipment needed and travel if there's is no snow locally and to maybe only ride a few times a year. It's not worth it I wish I had some of the money I had spent over the past 10 years I was riding.

That's not even the expensive part, that's only the beginning. Don't forget that it doesn't snow where normal people live anymore, those days are over. I haven't been able to ride locally for 3 years and it's not going to be long before there is no more trail system within a 3 hour drive of here because of that. So a weekend of riding my machine usually means pulling a trailer to where ever there is snow, and often time that is above Bangor, Maine. So 3+ tanks of gas in the truck, a hotel room, eating out, gas for the sleds and you have a $500 weekend or more. That's not figuring the sled, trailer, registrations... and god forbid you blow a belt or need some emergency repair or something. A belt for my machine is about $180.

Yup, when I go for a weekend with my buddy my budgeted money for the weekend is about $600. Plus whatever in reserve for like you said breakdowns or repairs. People think skiing is expensive

BTW my sled is a '99 Mach 1 that I bought new in '01 as a new leftover. It originally listed at $8300 but I got a steal on it for only $5000. Try seeing what you can get for 5 - 8K now a days

I have the luck my family owns a bunch of land so I am able to ride there (if we get snow). so I have a '96 MXZ 440 I rip around on, I don't take it anywhere since my brother has ran it into a couple trees now, and honestly it still has the speed to keep up with ppl, just not the suspension.

we used to trailer up to Tug Hill, and like you said, between the gas getting there, gas for the sled once you are there, and we did all cram in one or two hotel rooms, but lodging and food, it turned into a very expensive weekend.

$5 to 8K will buy you a pretty nice, modern sled these days on the used market. I bought my '13 800 Renegade Etec for about $7k in Canada and had it shipped. It was like brand new. My '14 4 stroke 1200 I got for about $7500 with 4000 miles on it. Both sleds have been awesome but I'm pretty crazy with maintenance.

Of course the one I want now is super expensive. I think the Ski Doo 900 Turbo is like $16.5k.

I've replaced each wheel bearing twice in 2 years and less than 20,000 miles.

My gf is Portuguese, I've had some good food since we started dating and chourico is one of the best.

    Ooooo pretty. Done riding altogether?

This is why I stick to bikes ...

Speaking of which... Eyeballing a DRZ400sm right now...
Maybe see if I can trade my Jeep for it.....

I hate only having 1 bike.

We've been talking about a boat or camper since we moved up here.
But, I'm always busiest when it's nice enough to enjoy it .. so, literally will be a hole in the water that I throw money into ...

Time to build a barn, and start a bike collection again.

Boating doesn't have to be expensive. Just if you get a big one that's ocean-capable

My cheap little runabout can buzz around all day on a pair of 5 gallon tanks if you're just cruising along on plane at 15mph or so. When we went on our Labor Day weekend trip and I just filled the 6 gallon main tank and brought 2 5 gallon spares. :notsure:

Probably not. But with my third shift schedule right now having a bike is just a waste. I never have time to ride it or I'm not aware enough due to sleep scheduling.

At some point I'll probably pick up a used FZ-09 or another ducati s2r.

I stopped riding due to dangerous damn Somalis and French people in the area around where I live and work. Taking your bike across town is taking your life in your hands in the Lewiston area, because NOBODY knows how to drive. I used to put 5-7k per year on my bike, but when I started working in L/A it dropped down to 2-3k, because I stopped commuting regularly and started mostly just going for joyrides on the weekends.

I love my cb500f. First bike/year riding so I'm gonna be happy with it for a while...I hope. I see myself with something else naked (giggity) but more power in a few years though.
