I was very puckered doing it, esp since I never flashed a car before. I hear that it is slightly more risky than doing an OVT flash.

I'm thankful that it worked for me and the other Taco that I helped flash.

It was worth it for me and has paid for itself already in fuel savings. The best previous tank that I saw was 21.5mpg.

Dood, I'd get Frank's (@MOC221_ ) input on this. He's done the exact route that you are planning.

Are these MPG gains verified accurate? Could the tune be giving false MPG readings. Just seems strange, One would think Toyota would do their best to squeeze every last drop of efficiency from the factory.

Click on the fuelly banner and see for yourself. What is shown on the display has been within 0.5mpg of calculated. That's close enough for me.

Maybe the tune is good to the point of not having to lay into the throttle as much thus increasing the MPGs.

It is making more usable power. To be able to goof around offroad with the added smoothness and get back MPGs that rival my old sidecar bike running the same route, just neato.

I hope they do the right thing for you. If not, there are TW'ers out there to help.

I'm a shitty teacher. It's a thing for me that I like to keep the RPMs low. I drive an MT like the way an AT "thinks." Be in the highest gear that makes sense, but with much better anticipation and control. When the opportunity is there, I tickle the rev limiter. On and off ramps are the last areas of fun for hooligans.

I do the same thing with my truck. I guess you're just better at driving like an old man than I am. LOL!

Strangely enough, I don't think I've ever come close to the rev limiter. I'm definitely not smooth in launching this truck. Stupid clutch delay valve. LOL!

I’m here at the dealership waiting on my blower recall. The service writer said that they have to plug it into the computer anytime it comes in for recall work and will perform any updates that they are promoted to do. Now I wait and see...

    :rofl::rofl:

I am definitely moving toward the old man side of things. Considering that I'm still stuck with a mentality of a 4yr old (at least that is what the family sez), I guess I'm moving straight from the first childhood right into the second.

Awesome! Love me some mods that don't go on the Taco. My wife has taken notice of them, even when I was trying to sneaky.

The day I need Depends is the day the Taco and I find Cliff Edge.

Got a question. For those who have got the update does it help with the inconsistency of taking off in 1st and shifts to second? It’s like mine has a mind of its own sometimes but it’s only 1st n 2nd gear. I have a 18 trdor. Going to try and drop mine by the dealer soon for other issues but didn’t know if the update would help that issue out or if I need to see if my clutch needs to be adjusted?

Having now driven approximately 250 miles on the new 2018 tune (8966304A7100), I can say that the shifting is improved, the mileage didn't change noticeably, but the stumble is still there when driving on 87 octane with no ethanol. I am going to try ethanol free 91 octane on my next tank to see if there is any difference.
What I don't understand is why there was so much of a difference between the truck I test drove (which had just arrived at my dealer - it had a very bad stumble) and the one I bought (May 18 build - slight stumble).
I am curious on what the specific differences are between the 04B013 and the 4A7100.
