Post your BLACK 3rd Gens

They're about 2.5", maybe a little less. I told the mechanics I didn't want them to high since the ride is harsher the closer u get to 3 inches of lift. I didn't take a picture of the cab mount chop. But they didn't place a new plate back there, they just cut into the frame and left the area open. I'm still figuring what I'm going to do, or if I'm going to leave it as is.

 

Yeah, I hear that. If you get a chance to take a pic of your can mount that would be great. Id like to see how aggressive they got.

Btw, make sure that you at least paint the area where the cut is made. You dont want it rusting.

 

They did paint or spray something in the area they cut. I'm probably going to coat it with some rust oleum myself. Anyways, here's a pic of where they cut.

I like the look of the 285/75/17 however ICON advertised no CMC/rubbing with 285/70/17 so I went with that.

I’m not trying to go full-on batmobile. I just really want something close to legal, with the front windows matching the factory “smoked glass” back. I’ll probably do a brow and the moonroof the same as I do the front windows.

What do my fellow friends with black Tacomas have / suggest?

I went with 3M ceramic color stable 35 all the way around and the moonroof. Since the back windows are already smoked they look pretty dark which is perfect however you can still see through the front window. From what I know all tint in California is illegal on the front windows but what I have heard if they can still see you your chances are less for getting pulled over.

That truck belongs to @shawn_free. I believe he had a Kings extended travel kit.

 

Rear tinted glass provides no heat protection. It's literally just tinted glass.

On vehicles that have factory tinted rear windows, I have my tint shop do 50% on those and then 15% on the front windows. That gives me proper heat reflection, best color match and looks the best.

Tinting only the front two windows is like pulling your pants only half way up.
