I'm guessing this is second floor bathroom? if so moving the pooper shouldn't be too hard. Just have to take down some ceiling sheetrock.

 

going through floor joists is my worry. it is a 2nd floor bathroom.

 

would it hurt the floor joists to just drill a big hole for the pipe to route through? I wouldn't think it would weaken it.

 

yeah that's where I'm bringing a plumber in lol. I can hook up PVC pipe all day (used to do sprinkler work), but I'm not touching an actual bathroom for plumbing, no sir.

 

that's something I have no idea. I don't even know how big a pooper drain is, do you? I'd love to avoid tearing out the ceiling below if possible, and since the entire bathroom floor is coming out to be replaced I figured we'd go in from above.

 

I would think 4" piping. just guessing, i've saw it and replaced one of those rubber gaskets on the bottom of a toilet, but that's about as far as I've went on plumbing.

 

you and I are equal on that then. I hated even doing that, the thought of f'ing up a toilet scared me to death haha

 

I just googled it, and 3" pipe is the standard. Unless you have 3 toilets on the line then it has to be 4". Mine will only have 2 toilets from upstairs. That makes me believe that a 3" hole through the floor joists is no big deal at all.

 

I think that's what @TRD Tyler was getting at....there aren't very many financially responsible college students out there. I had one that I used strictly for gas and emergencies but it was basically cuz I was working retail in college during the shitty times and was getting cut down to sub 20 hours a week.

This is me too. I will work on electrical ish all day long because I know I can cut the power to the specific area I'm working on and fix what I need. With plumbing you can cut water to your house but if you don't get it right more problems than what you started with occur and my patience and temper aint about that life!

 

I ain't touching the electrical either. I'll let somebody else relocate outlets and shizz like that.

 

@stronghammer if its not your forever home y not look into those steel carports. You can get a 2 car one for like $800.

 

because in material I can build this type of carport for less than $1,500, probably more like 1k, and it will add resell value
