Thanks man, should be OK here in CLT, I hope......Wilmington and the low lying coast is gonna get hurt..........unless she wiggles, then who knows. her cone of uncertainty is tight, so not likely to move much, but still several days out.

Florence is going to really smack NC/SC if predictions are right. Not to be trifled with and people need to get the heck out of Dodge soonest. Might even get some effects in our area. All those beach homes are going to be gone again. In 1995 a Navy ship I was on was smack in the middle of three storms like that. Took us an extra week to get from Charleston to the Med as we zigged and zagged our way across.

 

Yep. The time to get out is now. My wife had a girls weekend planned for St Simons Island Ga. this weekend. Leave Thursday and coming back Monday. Talk about bad timing. It appears Ga won't be in the path but it's still too early to tell in my opinion.

 

This is damage from Ike in Texas back in 2008. It was only a Cat 2 at landfall. I would assume destruction will be far worse than this wherever Florence makes landfall.

 

So what did the one standing house have going for it? Lots of erosion around the concrete but amazingly good shape compared to no shape for the rest.

The idea is to get the biggest tire you can fit with the least amount of lift. The most practical way to do this is a 33” tire on 2-3” of lift. Some have fit a skinny 33” tire on little to no lift.

At the end of the day, you gain ground clearance from tire size alone. (However there is some ground clearance gained in the front through lift)

One route you could think about is run a spacer lift to fit the size tire you want down the road. This could be a very cost effective way to get a 33” tire on your truck while you save for the suspension setup you want. Otherwise, you will have to buy lift first and then get tires.
