Guys don’t count on tents...wind can still be strong 200-300miles out...keep in mind this storm is 500 miles wide

As I said before, I can handle a few people if necessary in Columbia

I have a spare bedroom plus an extra room with space for air mattresses

Can also handle dogs and cats and other small creatures

We’re here an staying put. All fueled up with petrol and propane, generators all primed and ready. Not to mention we just used all the camp gear over Labor Day so it’s all still accessible. If anyone here in the low country has to bail out but wants to stay close let me know we can put you up. @dan0mite @scottalot @ahspurlock @ThaiChillyTaco @Apexgigi @Bubbles anyone else I forgot call me!

We are not far from you. I just refuse to deal with something like HUGO as a direct hit (once was enough for me).

Right now, I am chill and staying put and watching the others lose it. That is kinda entertaining.

All: this is an excerpt from an email from a friend of mine in the know (mentioning about a Scout camp in W. NC):

Other than checking for dead or weak trees, wind is not so much the primary concern as total rainfall is. My contacts at NC and SC emergency management are worried about this storm moving slowly and dumping a lot of rain. If it hits the way it is looking now, we may be hitting 100-yr and 500-yr flood events in a lot of areas of NC. NC is preparing for the potential of Floyd-like results where 1/3 of the state hit the 500-yr flood mark and above.

Flood maps for the area show that we would have to have a 100-yr or 500-yr event at the Second Broad River or overflowing dams for a CBH repeat. At camp, a 100 or 500-yr event would mean that we are cut off to the east from the main road as well as from the main camp. We would have to find a way out to the west (if there are dirt roads in the back of camp leading out) or sit tight. The water rise limit for a 500-yr event is in the pic below. Note that a 100-yr event could still cover the lower main road.

I'm in a loaner Camry while I wait on Lugoff to remove the lift kit. Wondering if I should just keep it until the storm blows through. The blue demon should be safer up the road in Lugoff than here in Florence.
