Oh shit, never thought of that :annoyed:

In any case, I got it done and went for a 10 mile drive, combined highway and surface streets.

    Got 19.7 mpg
Perhaps a butt feeling, but this feels very close to 1.04 91 file. As others have noted, I think Toyota has been working with Matt on these TSB. They feel great so far, but going to put on at least 100 miles before I flash to 1.04R

I guess we all no longer have any excuse to say "but my warranty...!" when discussing twin turbos lol

Just double click on the file. It activates a wizard built into Techstream and walks you through it

Anyone can pay the $60 and get a tech stream subscription and download the CUW files and update their truck. So I really doubt Toyota is going to deny warranties because this update is applied.

If they see it wasn't a Toyota mechanic (i.e. a Toyota dealer), they can say whatever they want

well maybe they should restrict the update files to dealers only then.

That's a good idea, and that's why they won't do it

Because they want people to update to void their warranty?

It would make them more money instead of doing warranty work for free basically

I think that if you bricked the ECU while doing the update yourself then whatever repairs that would be necessary at that point would be your responsibility. Or if you burned your truck to the ground somehow. Running a Toyota ECU update regardless of how it got there shouldn’t mean warranty voided. If the truck is running then the work was done correctly, and the service department would probably like it if customers did these updates themselves anyways since many like to avoid doing them.

There's been shadier things done, such as GM admitting that they knew about their whole ignition problem for 20 years before it got on the recall radar

Updated to 0413B and 1.04R 91, thanks again @mZiggy for the files. No problems install went smoothly and short test drive confirmed I didn't brick my ECUrpyqxrxKyMXHnavCpZzV.gif Seems smoother, may just be a placebo affect though, still anxiously waiting for Matt to finish his coffee... err 1.05....

I’ll just say the tech must not have documented it. Things get lost all the time.

But I have no warranty anyway o_O

I’m about 500 miles in on 1.04R. So far so good. If you are hesitating on updating, knock that shit off cuz it’s really fookin good

It’s basically the offspring of 04b13 and 1.04A. Fantastic.

Honestly I have zero idea what to expect with 1.05 anymore
