Rumour I read somewhere was that the new Ferrari boss is keen to retain Raikkonen but that LeClerc had signed an agreement to join Ferrari with Sergio Marchionne before his death

 

I don't believe the current Concorde Agreement allows for 3 cars

Maybe LeClerc signs with Ferrari but replaces Grosjean at Ferrari B or stays at Ferrari C for next season

car development is apparently one of his passions. and yeah the money ain't bad but that's probably not an issue since 07.

 

Kimi should go and drive Le Mans, Sebring, the Indy 500, Daytona. Anything he feels would be fun for him. He'd be hugely popular in any of those (more popular, actually).

I can't help but think there is some truth to the rumour that Marchionne had signed Leclerc before his death and the current Ferrari boss told Raikkonen he would be retained . Sauber is essentially tied to Ferrari (Alfa Romeo) so I wonder if they are retaining or covering a portion of Raikkonen's salary of his new Sauber contract .

 

Yea but why would Kimi want to drive for a certain backmarker? Like Alonso he can race pretty much anywhere else he chooses.

Maybe Ferrari has dangled the potential of a nondriving job in the organization? Manager of communications is definately out. So is anything in the engineering ranks since his formal higher education, like all F1 drivers, is nonexistent. And he isn't Italian so he has that handicap. Maybe a comfortable consulting gig or similar dependent on if he can help turn Sauber around.

 

And is Kimi at Sauber good for F1?
