Had one, traded it in for my taco. Jeeps are fun to drive, take the ditch well, easy to modify....

It is all about your NEEDS and areas you drive.

Good luck and hope we do not lose you.

Got room in the driveway for both?

Haha thank you new member. Welcome to TW. Unfortunately I just couldn’t justify keeping both vehicles. I move around a lot and lugging two vehicles around all the time would be a pain. I like to keep things minimalistic.

Plus selling it helps go towards a solid down payment. :burnrubber:

With the same driver, you will go further in the Jeep than a Tacoma. If you think anything else, it’s delusion. Not sure how this is even an argument. That being said, the Tacoma suites my needs better currently which is why I have one and have a XJ on 35’s in the garage.

Friend just bought a new '19 JL 4 door. Drove it home and suddenly the steering became so loose it would spin a half turn before effecting the front wheels. I read that this is common but needs a recall!!!???

I was all set to get a JL...then I drove one. The thing I didn’t like was that the truck felt all over the road. Like it just wanted to jump constantly to the point where I was constantly battling the steering wheel to keep it straight. I actually felt kinda worn out after the short test drive. Sure that might be fixed by a steering stabilizer , but that just seemed like too much work for me.

My jimmies are high and tight, just how I like them. Just wasn’t sure if his dude is actually saying a Jeep would “go further” as far as reliability. Because that would be absurdity at its finest.

    Jeeps can’t tow shit.
Jeeps are made by Chrysler and are as reliable as every other Chrysler currently made.
Jeeps are like driving a cube van backwards down the hiway in terms of aerodynamics and fuel economy.
Soft tops are horribly loud and cold as fuck in the winter.

Jeeps are great at off road and have unmatched aftermarket support. If you want to wheel then get a Jeep.
    **********************

I have owned and loved my Jeeps. But they aren’t a good daily driver comparibly to a Tacoma.

I wouldn't mind finding and owning another 47CJ2A Flat Fender Jeep . I had one a few years ago and was nice . Built 400sbc , turbo 350 , Atlas T/case , Dana 44's with Detroit Lockers ,6" lift and 35" TSL Boggers

People that claim a Tacoma is superior off-road vehicle to a Jeep are probably the same ones who refer to their Tacoma as a “Rig”...... “sweet rig bro”o_O:rolleyes:

Tacoma is a good midsized light duty pickup lets leave it at that. Some generations were just better than the current one.

Another nice thing about owning a Jeep in Calif is the ability to have it Green stickered

basically having a Green Sticker on Jeep allows free access to an OHV area

If you look closely at the pic of my Jeep , located near the l/side of the roller fairlead is my Green Sticker

Since the Jeep is one of the few vehicles left offered with a manual transmission, I deeply considered one while vehicle shopping. As much as I'd like to say my off road time is constant, in reality its 98% on road, 2% off road and 98% of that 2% could be handled by just about any sort of truck/SUV. At the end of the day, the Tacoma was better equipped at the price point I was looking in (sub 36k), was more comfortable on the road for me, and in my opinion was the better looking vehicle.
Plus, the sales staff at Toyota were miles ahead of the Jeep staff in terms of actually doing their job. When I mentioned to the Toyota guy I wanted a manual, his response was "Let's drive the one I have in stock (AC Sport) then look at ordering the one you want". Unlike the Jeep guy who responded with "Why would you want a manual??"

A couple weeks later the Toyota guy called me and said he had a couple TRD OR Manuals on the lot. I drove there that day in my Xterra and a few hours later left in my new Truck. The Jeep guy had also called and asked if I had changed my mind about an automatic...
