Plasti Dipped Sport Wheels

Hello everyone. First post so be kind. A couple of weeks ago I traded my Tundra for a Tacoma (always loved the looks of both trucks). Money is tight so I have done only cosmetic mods. So far I have debadged, duplicolor bed lined the grill, vinyl wrapped the hood scoop, and today I plasti dipped my Sport wheels. Bilstein 5100's set @ 1.1" are next on list. And if I can find a good deal on a st of Off Road wheels and tires locally, I'd like to ditch the Sport wheels all together.

 

Looks good dipped, but I hear you. I ended up swapping mine.

Looks good man. I’m thinking of plastidipping my wheels as well but wondering if it’ll just be futile since that stuff don’t last long against rocks and gravel and such. Thoughts?

 

Man I don't know. I put a can on each wheel. Pep Boys has 2 cans for 10 bucks right now. 20.00 experiment that satisfied the need to work on my truck. Seems pretty durable but also seems like it would be a dust magnet. Hopefully it will last till I can afford someone's Off Road take off wheel and tires.

 

Welcome! Plastidip gets a lot of hate but when done correctly (which it looks like you have done) it can look awesome! Congratulations!

 

I may do my flares tomorrow....

 

Keep the wheels, it looks way cleaner with the stock wheels. Some 1.25 quality wheel spacers and a more aggressive tire and the whole lool of the truck will change dramatically. Invest in suspension better IMHO

 

Using the plastidip glossifier will improve the looks, make a tougher surface, and reduce the amount of dust it attracts. Maybe be worth looking into

 

I used the satinizer on the wheels. I dipped the flares today. Looks so much better imo.

 

Just a tip. The badge pops out of the center cap easily if you want to hit those also?

did you take your flares off to spray or leave on and peel?
rims look good i think imma do mine.. as far as swapping.. the dealer sells the stock steelies for $90.. theres a thread about steelies somewhere.. they look good and are a cheap option for a black off road look..

I left the flares on. I marked about 2" au from the flare. Spray many coats on and the excess will peel away almost magically.

 

Yeah. Im pretty sure it is oem.
