I love old milsurp rifles, such cool history. I only have a couple though lucky

I shot a Yugo M48 and Garand in competition when shooting was my main hobby a few years back. IMG_20160430_081951258.jpg
Someday I'll get back into it. But making match grade ammo and practicing took a lot of time. Once I phased out of the junior class I was done. Its expensive as all get out too.

I have a no1 mk3 that I bought on my 18th birthday from GI joes back when they were a thing. It's beat up too and I don't know a ton about it but it's a fun gun, super mild shooting

I've put exactly 16 rounds through a garand in my life. I NEED to own one. One of my favorite rifles of all time

Anyone hear of someone with a 3rz using Trail Gear bombproof motor mounts - my friend is thinking about buying some and he has an 02 4 banger. I know V6 trucks before 99 didn't have good sized engine block brackets to use with them - they were cast and ended up too tall with the bombproof mounts, but I'm not sure if that carries over to 4 bangers at all throughout the production run. Thanks :)

Get one through the CMP now while they still have them. Prices are around $800 for a service grade I believe. Cause its a Gvmt operation, they'll ship right to your door. Provided you live in a free state.

Then you switched to trucks which are cheaper

Haha I'm in a mostly free state still. Wow $800 really isn't bad at all. There still surplus 30-06 around?

Yeah. $40 a tank of gas or $40 for a box of 100 bullets. Just the lead bullets, some assembly required

I see you have resisted the mod syndrome from TW - you have good self control - can't say the same for myself

Yeah I wouldn't really be looking for match grade, just more fun blasting ammo

$800 will get you a gun that will be service rifle match capable out of the box. I use a service grade and got a shiny bronze medal once. Riflings tight and stock looks good for circa 1955.

Carbine is something I want too, but in terms of distance shooting (my favorite) its not any good past around 250 yards. In my pic, thats 200 yards, which is almost too close for my liking. I love shooting iron sights out past 300, my Garand even does excellent at 600.

I honestly don’t know, I pretty much always have one in my truck though.
