Looks like Tropical Storm Olivia is weakening from wind shear and now wind speeds 60-65mph . This is good news for my Brother however the islands are still under a Tropical Storm Warning

Everything was quiet, like most people were in a daze...
I was in college then, my last semester. I had spent the night before at a friend's house and when I stopped by my parents house to grab my books for class my mom had left a note on the kitchen table for me. Notes usually consisted of "i left X out to thaw for dinner, put it in the fridge on your afternoon break" but instead this note was rambling on about planes and a crash and New York City and I thought my mom had lost her damn mind. i went into the living room and turned on the TV. Every station had images of the towers. I don't even remember what channel i was on or what they were saying. Just the images. I dropped to my knees there on the floor and just stared, mouth open, for ages. total disbelief. i eventually tore myself away and grabbed my school stuff. stopped and saw my mom at work on the way. she worked retail, store was dead quiet. got to school and it was silent. in my computer lab the professor had switched all of the unused monitors to the news. is was so hard to get anything done that day - kept glancing at the news feed. finished my mandatory classes and skipped out on my labs. i just wanted to be home. didn't have to work that day thankfully. so horrible.

2 of these guys were at the Pentagon on 9/11 and both Navy Captains (Ret.). Actually they were fishing together on the Potomac and got the call right after. The one eating an apple is a Chaplain, at the time for the Coast Guard. Navy Chaplains serve the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines.

He didn't make it to SD last fall to hunt phez PBS did a show called We'll we meet again it aired back in February of this year. They flew him to NYC for the filming obviously whoever planned that wasn't a pheasant hunter. There is a segment about him and the Army chaplain. It is the segment named Heroes of 9/11. Army Times did a decent write up on it.

Guess better call my mother and sister in Raleigh tonight. Mom used to live in Fl. and has been through enough of them. I always had to take the ships out to sea, know they aren't any fun to ride in. Or repair the damage afterwards.

    On a lighter note:

I remember Camille very well. Watching homes float down the river. And Chandler's barn until it hit a bridge and exploded into toothpicks. A neighbor had a baby girl during it all and they couldn't get to the hospital. They named her Camille.

The Euro model started a shift south during landfall. I saw the same deviation when Irma got closer to Florida. All the other plots are showing a different path. Not sure if this is an error or predictor. I’m really interested in the 8 o’clock update.

Yup, I’ve been there. Last year, they thought the storm would hit the east side, then it entered on the west side of Florida and came up over us. The result was everyone from south Florida came north. Totally drained every resource along the way. The onslaught of people was worse than the storm. All because the storm plot kept changing.
The latest still shows the same plots, and the Euro model dropping south. I’m wondering if the 3 hour update cycle messes up the Euro models. Seems that happened last year. They were rock steady for a week and are now moving around.

Local owned grocery store located one mile from home has the best fried chicken and fried chicken livers. God help me when the wind is blowing to the east on my ride home from work....
