UCAs don't really affect your ride or travel. Mostly they are to correct for alignment issues with a lifted suspension geometry. When you lift it beyond ~2.5" a lot of times the UCA is too short so you can't get it in proper alignment. Aftermarket UCAs correct for that. I would say get it aligned when you're done with the lift, and if they have trouble getting it in spec, order up some UCAs. Several companies make ball joint style ones (SPC, light racings, etc...) that's aren't as expensive as the uniballs. I would say if you're just doing moderate wheeling or mostly street, stick to the balljoint ones, but if you plan to beat on it or have money to burn, go for uniballs.

As for travel, the shock is typically your limiting factor there. I have total chaos uniball UCAs because I also have extended travel Kinds ("mid travel").

Bro. Use some periods. Like this. See how it turns an otherwise stream-of-consciousness sentence into a clear and easy to read format? It hurts my brain to read otherwise, and I really don't know why everyone and their mother is throwing out the use of punctuation. It's sad.

Overland style suspension can be easily identified by the manicured and oiled beard, and the freshly dry cleaned The North Face goose down vest.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
From the description you gave on some of the things you want to get out of the suspension... here's my advice... fwiw.

With the amount of miles you're running, it's probably time for an upgrade/refresh.

I'd say 5100s all for corners. Old Man Emu 881s in front (and leave the adjustment clip on the lowest setting). Wheelers (or similar) 1.5 inch AAL.

With that type of lift, you shouldn't need aftermarket Upper Control Arms for the alignment numbers. You can change the UCAs later, if you lift more... but another reason to look at UCAs is the bushings. My train of thought, when I did them, was my bushings were looking rough and if I had to take the UCAs off... I might as well put new, better, ones back on

If you are going to change the UCAs, I'd go SPC. Uni-ball is more maintenence and you have no use for them if you're only running a couple inches of lift.

I'd also look at doing the rack bushings with Energy Suspension poly bushings.

And the LCA bushings can be replaced with White Line poly bushings if you want to do that as well. (forewarn... these are a bit of a pain in the ass)

When I re-did the bushings on mine, it made a noticable difference.

The OME kit is designed with the Australian outback in mind. The birthplace of "overlanding." Dunno what @chrispchicken9 is talking about not being able to find the first gen listed. Every major toyota offroading shop sells the kit. Wheelers , Headstrong here, Low Range here. I got my setup from Wheelers and love it.

Yeah, okay guy with the man bun

What I meant was the actual OLD MAN EMU website doesn’t list 1st gen truck in its inventory. I didn’t even bother looking into warranty information etc. I doubt they even manufacture those kits anymore. I’m sure there are some lurking around the interent - even in bulk maybe.

Why do you think I have a man bun? Fucking weird assumption to make just because you're full of shit. Straight from ARB's website: http://www.arbusa.com/uploads/PDF/accessorizeYourRig/toyotaTacoma.pdf

Before you say something else dumb, ARB owns OLD MAN EMU.

What's wrong with a man bun? I can see where they can go wrong combined with a v-neck tee shirt...

Less expensive suspension leaves everyone wondering how much better the ride can be with more expensive suspension.

Spend money once, Get Kings, ride off into the sunset knowing that's the best out there.

Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
I have Fox 2.0’s, front and rear . I just bought Total Chaos UCA’s (Not installed yet) and I’m ordering some Deaver or Alcan custom springs because her ass is starting to sag with the added weight from the camper shell, sleeping setup and basket/awning/Road Shower on camper shell. I love overlanding but it’s so freakin’ expensive!

    Lol. I don't about that!

My four steps when I have to work in an attic/crawl space. Monkey suit>knee pads>man bun>respirator. I mean I wouldn't walk in public with a man bun. Maybe that's where the problem lies?

OME is awesome. For an 18 year old it was a good price and It has served me well. It takes a beating offroad, gives good lift and carrying capacity, and is very stable on the road. No complaints yet.
