Has anyone ever tried adding their own swingout to a bumper? I've seen some remarks that this isn't feasible without putting too much stress on the bumper, but I'm not sure I buy that since it looks like the design of most bumpers with swingouts isn't drastically different, maybe just add some reinforcement inside the bumper itself.

Anyway, I'm looking at doing this and would love to hear any experiences of anyone else who has tried it. I tried searching but didn't really find anything.

Confirmed. You can basically kick them off the bead.

I'm tired of my swingout from my CBI rear bumper. You want it?

I use the tailgate too much

I am modifying my Mobtown regular bumper into a dual swingaway with high clearance sides over the winter. Is that what you mean, or do you mean modifying the stock rear bumper to accept a swingaway? The 4xinnovations hinges are what I will be using.

I can send you CAD drawings if you'd like.

Nice! I see it's double shear and rated for big Dicks, which is exactly what @Jibbs needs!!

If anybody needs a base to work from I'll sell the swingout of my CBI Bumper for $250. I'm headed in a different direction and no longer need the swingout

DIY fab work isn’t that common around here. There are some people that get creative, but not too many.

That looks nice. Do you have a write up or a build bread? I’m planning on doing this sometime soon in the future.
