Honestly David, the best advice I can give you is this.

Be yourself... not a highlight reel version or a version you think they will like better because in the long run it won't work out.

And if you match a girl on Tinder or whatever, dont be a penpal. Chat them up a little to stir up some chemistry and then offer to take them out or meet them. Girls like guys to make moves.

And hide your valuables and fold your laundry before dates so you dont have to shove it all in the closet :anonymous:.

And dont put your eggs into long distance baskets. Sure keep the convo up as much as you want but dont dump all your effort into it because it's not a good use of your time.

This, definitely this. You're gonna want something to talk about in real life that you already haven't talked about. I liked to chat them on and off for a few days and try and set something up.

best thing I can tell you is to just start speaking to people. like an actual conversation. If you just want to get laid put on a wedding ring. I know that sounds shitty. because it is. But its also the truth.
    Especially in NOVA.

If you walk up to a girl, and you don't expect anything to come of it, then you'll do fine. if they turn you down its their loss. Dude, its just another human.

don't expect much of life, it'll surprise you. My wife and me were acquaintances for about a year and a half. spoke briefly every week. Kept it going through both our separate relationships. Neither one worked out. We we long distance, I deployed shortly after. I had no idea how Id make it work. but she was down, and so was I. Made it work into 3 months of my deployment. Had a really bad day in Iraq, Got on the skypes, told her we were getting married and for her to start planning it. She thought I was joking. the next day I asked her what she had planned so far. She was stumped. She didn't take it seriously. I did.

We got married 6 moths later when I was on leave.

    We've been married since 2010.

we made it work through rough times, but again. Life is funny sometimes.

I do have a ring. From @Comatose recomendation.

But also, i dont like people in general. Sorry, but i dont care about the game last night, and i dont follow voting stuff. People annoy me. I guess face to face it's different. But i also don't really talk that much. Don't know how to explain it

I get what you mean...for a long time with my old ex I would go meet her dipshit friends and I had no motivation to even want to open my mouth. I guess since being in my career I have developed some enjoyment out of sparking decent conversation if it can score a laugh out of me. That said, Im pretty decent at breaking the ice on stuff...but I had to develop that level of open comfort for a little bit.

I think I really developed the stuff Im talking about when I realized that I stopped getting nervous about meeting a girl even if she was crazy hot in appearance. Like sight picture said, when you don't expect much...life will mostly surprise you which is a good thing.

I dont think I get nervous anymore.. but that initial conversation is hard to come up with.

Id probably be the silent guy who stands behind someone, and then randomly laughs at their joke. (then they wonder who TF I am, and I just say F it, and go away)

Yea man very few do get along with people who think they know everything unless those people are eager to seek direction from someone or something. Don't get me wrong, I can always appreciate a pro in a certain field with their experience, but they don't know everything about anything.

That is true and since I never really played the bar scene much before social media I never developed a solid convo starter with someone who may not be looking for it. I know for online stuff, its pretty easy to work off of some sort of info from someone on their profile. Granted, some people are just flat out hard to convo with though if they don't really give anything back in a convo. That's pretty much a down for me as I hate just talking to myself.

Id think that if they dont respond back much, it would be a down for almost everyone. Unless its a sales person, and they can get the info out haha.

online is definitely easier, but we are hiding behind a screen. In person is harder too, because its in person. Gotta have that confidence. I kind of like a girl in charge, so she can come talk to me. ;)

My wife is opposite of me for the most part.

I'm from the Shenandoah Valley . She's from an Island off the coast of Central America, and a green card holder.

Both we both aren't fans of people, love the outdoors, and love good food.
She's even into shooting which is great. Lets me have my hobbies.

Ive found entirely that my wife is this way @Blackout14

good luck finding that one dude. They exist, but usually aren't looking for anything serious long term. Be yourself. If you being you doesn't get you where you want to be, you have a few options.

I agree with this and you will find the small percentage that like being in charge cause they have accepted that they are "control freaks" but typically girls like the pursuit and prefer the guy to make decisions more than the woman. Hopefully you can find what you want out there, but at the same time if you go way outside of your comfort zone you may not like what you get in the long run either. Crap like this is what makes the dating world challenging, either test the waters till you find the one that fits or you might jump the gun and settle like many often do sadly.

There is some truth in developing possible appealing characteristics for yourself. It took my current girl for me to really develop some of this cause sure I could look up what is more attractive, but it wasn't until seeing it with my girl that some of these things actually became enjoying. This led me to wanting to do some of this vs feels like adjusting to "play the game."
