Does anyone have this lift kit and is it worth it?

I want to lift my 18 TRDOR to be able to fit 33” ko2s on the TRD4R wheels. Will this do the trick or is there a better “ideal” set?

Edmunds.com did a Death Valley test with the Ridgeline and Tacoma. They swapped out the stock OR suspension and put that setup you’re asking about on. You can google Edmunds+Death Valley+Tacoma and the articles should come up. They were huge fans of it. A lot of people on TW seem like the setup and the fact it is largely sold out from several dealers shows its popularity. I don’t have any experience on it though, so best of luck on your decision.

 

Yep, I do. FANTASTIC lift. I am also using a 3 leaf ADL and some better bump stops.

I have the fronts set to 3/4 on the clip setting. This should be plenty for 33's. IN fact, when my 265's wear out, I will be getting 255/85r16.

No cons for me. It is the perfect set up for what I do. The only issue is I will have to get a whole new leaf pack in the future when I finally get my shell or my bed rack with RTT, but I knew that going in and it would be while down the road, so the ADL works very well for now.

 

I just put the 6112/5160s on last weekend with Dakars in the rear. Vast improvement for on-road handling so far. Haven't got the chance to hit the dirt yet though.

 

3rd Gen is different than 2nd gen. I have a 2018 TRD double cab long bed and while planning and doing my lift I found that it's not straight forward (like 2nd Gen). It takes a lot of research to make sure you end up with the lift you really want. For example, I wanted a 1.5" front lift and it took the "2 inch lift" Eibach springs. I found the people at Wheeler Off Road to be extremely helpful and really concerned about making sure I ended up with what I wanted. This is how they helped me... they sent a picture with measurements of all of the logical options.

"From left to right. First is an OME 2887 that measures 15.75" long with a .675 diameter wire. Next is the Eibach Pro-Truck coil for 16+ Tacoma that you want (E30-82-069-02-20) that measures 15" tall with a .7" wire diameter. Next is the T1 coil that measures 15" tall with a .675" diameter. The last one is the the Eibach Pro-Truck coil for 05-15 Tacoma (E30-82-007-03-20) that measures 15.25" tall with a .7" wire diameter."

 

What Leaf kit did you add and also what bump stop did you add?
I haul a 450 dirt bike a lot. Should I consider this?

Bumps: I haul my wr450 around, but not very often and it does very well. If you haul it a lot, perhaps you might like a full leaf pack and I would recommend these: Heavy version regular version:

Had seen the video with the blown shocks but never read the follow up article with 6112/5160 combo. Good read and only cements my commitment to buy the 6112/5160 combo w/MD dakars.

 

Which dakars are you going to get? I'm thinking about replacing the rear leafs on mine and I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I don't really want a lift, 1" is ok, I'd have to think about more of a lift.

 

Replacing the leaf pack will add more then 1". If you do not want a lift, then air bags might be the best bet as they can ride level and then add support when needed.

 

I haul junk often but not heavy payloads so medium duty. Only reason im considering the dakars. If i didnt, id just go with an AAL. The medium duty shouldn't be as jarring unloaded like the heavy duty springs are reported to do. If you're looking for an inch you can do blocks or aal. I'd go with aal.

IMO Also depends on your long term goals. If you plan on a simple lift, and simple light load of offroading equipment/recovery gear like shovel/gas/traction board/cooler/chairs then AAL will suffice. If you daydream about bed racks with 33" spare on a tire swing out metal bumper then consider dakars

 

Already have bags for towing the boat!

 

I recently had the 6112/5160s put on my 17' DCSB OR, no lift, also have the sumo springs on the rear for when I'm carrying a bunch of stuff. Made the truck much, much more stable in all conditions; street and trails. Haven't had it off road much yet, but the truck is much easier to drive on twisty mountain roads.

 

Noticed these are for the 05-15. Fit on your 3rd gen?

 

Suspension is the same from 2nd to 3rd gen. Biggest difference is clearance from stock top of tire to fender.

 

what setting is everyone using? I want something comfortable on road, and capable off road... still back and forth on 285s or 265s
