My buddy sent me a news link and video for the oil fields in Texas right now. They said no experience they are hiring people starting at 85k ish a year and you can make up to 150k if you're good. Insane for a no education no prior experience job

All you need is a video camera and an "adventurous" attitude to become famous...

But you’re going into computer engineering right?

I was just saying you could get work in petroleum in like Denver or Texas and make $$$.
Main reason I want Environmental, if the oilfield goes there’s always somewhere else.

Everyone I know that has an office job has a great schedule. Hell even the pumpers work 7 on 7 off.

True. The bad part is you start hearing it more and more often and it's easy to forget that on either side it's a very small number that are actually throwing out claims like either one of them is hitler or fascist or whatever the other claims. But it still makes people tune out. If you have a problem with a politician good for you, make a sound argument against them, don't just throw out unsubstaiated paranoia. It's like name calling in a debate, people stop listening to you

By its very nature, it's a finite resource. We use so much of it that we have resorted to some pretty interesting (and expensive) methods for extracting it. We can choose to pay a lot for it or find alternatives.

Something like 50% of the oil goes to road transportation. Only like 2.5% goes to power production.

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/307194/top-oil-consuming-sectors-worldwide/
    https://alternativeenergy.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=001797

So, sure it'll always be around, but not on the scale it is currently operating.

completely agree, but we should probably avoid any political talk in case a mod pokes his/her head in here...they are swift with the ban hammer regarding anything even remotely political these days

Didn't mean to start any kind of political discussion. Just thought it was funny I was handed that flier walking to class. Haha.

it happens, I just remember in another BS thread not too long ago someone got a short ban for it and it sucked...usually it's just repeat offenders but sometimes they are looking to make an example out of someone.

Yeah I know haha, I wasn't even meaning that politically really. Just a life thing as far as debate or making an argument

My wife and I used to be on this inter mural softball team. She got the nickname "the Hammer" from work (because she likes to say NO to people). My nickname on the team was "the Nail"

So... to her, every problem she saw kinda looked like... me...

Everything in the oilfield is expensive.

My buddy runs a business and tells me what they charge/ get charged for somethings. Mind blowing.

Random question, so 8" e locker 3rds don't work in a normal 8 inch housing. So when you see an older SAS'd toyota pickup (say a 3rd gen pickup) on Craigslist that says it has e lockers front and rear, how is this done? Would they be modified toyota lockers? Or something like an eaton e locker? Or just depends? Might not be a real answer but I've seen several of them and wondered.

probably either ARB locker or a Harrop e-locker...I know those are really the only 2 aftermarket selective lockers for Tacomas, figured it's the same for earlier Toyotas

    Yeah, it's insane.

I just can't handle the boom or bust nature of the industry.

Never heard of harrop, ARB's are all air though aren't they? If they make an e locker too that's news to me

Either they put in a TRD rear axle or did something like the Harrop, or they don't know what an "e locker" is and just used it as a generic term for having lockers.

Eaton does make an e locker too right? Do they not make them for toyota axles?
