No. No. No. you fail to realize a few things here:

Running a portable generator during a hurricane isn’t a priority.

It’s the prolonged power outage AFTER the hurricane that you need to have emergency power.

I had the unpleasant experience of getting through Hurricane Sandy. Where much of the region was without power for weeks and some over a month. I ordered a generator from Costco two days after Sandy hit land. They ran out of the generator that I ordered. So they gave me $200 as an apology and also sent me a different generator.

And, it arrived in three days with standard shipping.

Saved me from spoiling two fridge/freezers worth of food and most important... fresh brewed coffee to keep my wife sane.

AND, we were the phone charging station for the entire local neighborhood.

Here’s my current setup. A little more refined since Hurricane Sandy.
Dual inverters with 5 gal aux tanks each, paralleled together to produce ~4k watts

Thank your lucky stars you got that when you did. I don’t imagine brown santa having much luck getting through the roads, floods, and debris down here unless it’s a clear path without the NG or local PD running checkpoints.

That’s what I thought when Hurricane Sandy left a path of destruction, but somehow it arrived.

But remember, the genny arrived three days after ordering and five days after landfall. Police checkpoints long gone!

Just everyone with no power, gas stations with no power, rationing of gasoline, ATM machines down, etc.

I honestly believe that all the carriers (UPS, FedEx) made a huge effort to deliver these generators to their customers in what was a great time of need.

Every Gen 3 also has a good 12v inverter for some limited power, too. Stay safe on the Eastern front!

Second gens also has a 12v inverter.

Wouldn’t brew coffee with even the smallest coffeemaker. I tried hard during Sandy. Failed.

I went to harbor freight earlier! They had no generators but a tail gate one! I think after this I'm going to invest in a generator! Hopefully it won't be too bad here!

We're banking on having my solar panel to charge cell phones and my camping gear to cook with, keep food fresh/cold, and of course fan and lights.

From what I understand, those Predator generators from HF are really good.

That’s a good plan for about a week. You have a 12v fridge? After a week, peeps were having trouble buying ice at stores because the stores didn’t have power = no ice

That solar panel is a solid solution tho. That’s something I’ve been considering for awhile now.

I was jelly of a house two streets down that had solar panels on his roof. I betcha he didn’t have a cranky wife looking for coffee.

I'm of the opinion that every home owner should have a generator. Especially if you live in this crazy area. There are way too many power outages throughout the year.

Also, make sure your gennys are secure because douchebags were stealing gennys left and right during/after Sandy.

Yep 12v fridge and a good (small) inverter. For coffee there are multiple ways the wife can make fire and boil water.

Hell for that matter we can boil water for showers and drinking
