I know in the swisha thread there is another group going from across. We are open to people joining up. I would cap the total number of vehicles as some of the camp sites are pretty tight. I would say the 5 or 6 trucks we had would have been the max.

Ardbeg-September 21-22

This trip was pretty interesting for me since I tried every offshoot I ever wanted to try. Don’t have photos of them all, but was pretty pleased with the trucks performance. It’s crazy how going 5psi lower (20vs15psi) made such a huge difference. Use to run 20psi on my 255’s and be fine but with the 315’s lower was better.

Nothing really much going on with the truck as it has been parked. I went through it during a oil change and noticed my second battery was completely dead. I was able to get a replacement battery under warranty, but the solar system didn't do its job. So its gone. Not worth its weight. Also, I noticed during the Swisha loop, the truck was running most of the day and by the time we got to camp it was dark making the panel pretty useless.

I have purchased a gun case to put my spare parts in since 35's plus low gears and lockers means its a matter of time till something gives. Gun case will be going on the roof rack, just one for now, but Ill have two eventually.

So, after the trip I am looking for a new drive shaft as @Tridet167 busted a rear shaft. Mines made some contact so it’s a mater of time.


Also, after seeing @Canadian Joe bed drawer setup I ended up grabbing this off of kijji for $50
Going to solve a lot of problems I was having.

 

Figured this list won't get lost and can be updated if needed be..

Things to do:

1. Need to fix fuel issue. May require new evaporations canister, rethink filler neck, and make it more sealed so the evaporations canister doesn't get clogged....again

   The mud and body damage from the tires kicking stuff up is just ridiculous and kind of unnecessary especially if this works.
   -go with 4.25 after discussing with a number member
   
   
3. Need to make a spacer for rear bumps.
   
   
4. Rethink storage of gear
   -recovery on roof so it is always accessible in emergency or needing of quick recovery (in gun case on roof rack)
   -spare parts will live in tote which will stay on top of drawer with jack
   -Re arrange drawer and fridge so gas and water storage aren't interfered with.
   -Tools will remain behind seat as although things will have to be removed to access tools its not necessarily all the time and behind the seat they are safe and not a risk of becoming a projectile...
   
   
5. Cab mount boxing
   
   
6. Body mounts-Radiator bushings, and cab bushings with energy suspension (purchased need to install)
   
   
7. Maintenance
   -go through truck and check everything for leaks, play, etc...
   -paint armour and frame
   -Finish exhaust
   -Fix compressor (sheered off back wall...)
   -add carpet or closed cell foam to fridge slide to give vibration resistance to fridge
   -fluids and greasing
   -Seal bed-Remove stupid foam gaskets that let water in under cap, run some silicon and then reinstall bed.
   
8. Spare parts
   -Rebuild driveshaft
   -clean up new to me spindles, LCA, and other parts--> Thanks @NeonHeights for all of those...

 

What are you carrying/going to carry for spare parts?

 

So I think I won’t need some of the things but for the more remote places I’ll be bringing a lot of it. As of right now I have....
spindles (will be gusseted), one cv (for now), whole rear driveshaft, air filter, serpentine belt, and appropriate fluids.

Looking to get extra wheel studs, inner and outer tie rods

Biggest thing is the 35s and my trucks weight which is causing this.

 

I was wondering were to get this stuff, I really like the look of my rig with no front fender flares. I think I am going to get the 4" mount to the outside stuff, and use the holes in the fender's for the flares to mount this.

 

You can even get this stuff on Amazon.ca.
It does it's job well, back when we used to service Garda armored trucks they had this installed at the rear wheels. Durable stuff.

I had about 20' of the stuff that I was offering for free in the Ontario thread if someone had a use for it a little while back, lol

 

Yeah I saw those. I like how the ones I posted have the 90’ so I can just bolt them up. Now to decide 2” or 4”. I think price will be similiar.

 

Tested out the rear leafs to make sure everything was still good after everything has been used a bit. Ended up needing to add some extensions to reduce the uptravel.

 

It was the night before Christmas and all through the house nothing was stirring except Me getting this shit mounted....

Merry Christmas everyone. Had some time before Santa came and worked on getting the twon compressor more solidly mounted than before.

Will clean up the wires and air lines another day. Don’t want Santa to skip my house. Guy may have some long travel or other goodies I don’t need....

 

That twin is a heavy pig, I just removed mine for winter.

I was going to clean it to day but decided to be lazy and just tidy up the storage room instead.
