Lol they just dont make things like they used to. Id take my s/c'd 6spd 4.0 any day over a brand new 3.5.. im a sucker for the low end torque:burnrubber:

Veryyy interested though to see what numbers ovtune is going to make with their 3.5 TT setup..

I owned a Gen 2 prior to the Gen3 I've got now. Maybe it's because I don't have them both to drive side by side to compare engine performance, but I don't notice any significant power loss with the Gen3. The 4L may have had better low end torque, but the MPG-to-work output of that engine sucked. Best I could nurse out of it was about 18 mpg driving like an old fart (wait, I am an old fart) and just regular street driving scored in at around 16-17 mpg. Highway driving at 70 mph dropped that to around 15. On my Gen3, without much effort, I can squeeze 22-23 mpg around town and much better on the highway if I keep it under 75 mph.

I know few of us by these trucks for the mileage but if you can get near the work output (hp at the wheel) at a significant fuel savings then that is a bonus. I wish Toyota had put a little R&D into revising the 4L to make it more efficient. There are full sized trucks that best the 4L with both power and economy with larger displacement engines in bigger heavier bodies.

My thoughts as well. I really liked my 2nd gen. The more I drive my 3rd gen I’m liking it better then the 2nd. Plenty of power to pull my bass boat and do daily chores. I have no need for a full size with just the wife and I.
Even with the small pro lift and 265/75/16s it gets wayyy better mpg then my 2nd gen ever did.

There are several cement and calvary pros in my area. A lot of tacomas here in WA. I see less infernos than I do any other color.

Inferno and spruce mica were the 2 least made colors. Might be the best looking colors too. I miss my spruce 2nd gen color. Looked amazing when it was clean.

I thought I remember someone on here saying the Colorado having more Headroom and Legroom than we do, I never looked inside one because you never see them anywhere.

Except it looks like a wood stove bolted to the side of your your truck.

I look forward to seeing the Toyota one in person. Don’t much like it either, but might win me over in the long run.

Yeah, it's pretty damn ugly. It looks like a fat leech is on your fender. @mesojdm has the best custom snorkel so far, but the stock TRD one is not that bad. Especially for me, when I go wheeling, it's usually in the summer and really dusty to the point I have to clean out my air filter when we go camping for the night.

I'm liking the initial pics of Voodoo. Waiting to see more once deliveries start happening. But that snorkel, esp. for some without a choice

Correct. On paper and in person the headroom/legroom comfort is better. But as far as what I store/transport in cab doesn’t fit for some reason.

I needed a real sized bed, the taco long bed is a standard bed on any other pickup.
So besides using it as a truck with a usable bed, which functional parts does the pro have that you're talking about?

It's an OR with a sport hood and some gloss coated primer paint and plastic doo-dads.
Front locker, different difference ratios, steps that will fold if you think they're sliders?
Oh right rims and tires, that's with a few extra grand

......and you'd be paying though the nose for all of those parts and would fare better if you did it later and with better parts.

Since when is the dealer a bargain!

Actually that's the only model that comes with a manually powered seat and windows.

While it is definitely feasible to convert a off-road to a pro. All these parts purchased individually would easily put you well over the price of a pro. Additionally, the resale like someone mentioned would still track your car as a off-road and not a pro.

helix66, do you feel any better after posting on a thread about TRD Pros saying how much a TRD Pro is a waste of money? I don't go and tell you how you should spend your money, I don't need you to tell me how I should spend mine. If you don't like Pros, just ignore the threads about it, voila.

I was replying to your statement that the pro was just a bunch of cosmetic upgrades and a flashy primer paint job.

Wheels, fogs, exhaust, skids, headlights and suspension aren't cosmetic.

I keep reading Fox suspension are no good and I can't understand that statement. Fox as always been considered top of the line suspension, at least on snowmobiles and ATVs. People pay extra money to get Fox on there Skidoo, I have them OEM on my Arctic Cat and I couldn't be happier.

I agree there might be better kits for trucks if you are ready pay the premium, but anyone who say they are not good obviously don't know what they are talking about.
