Feathers are "self healing" so to speak. If they become separated walking thru the woods simply sweep them back with your finger and voila, the little velcro thingies on the barbs stick right back together. A little Feather-Dri or Fletch-Dry will keep them good to go in the rain. Even when feathers get "shot" up they provide remarkable control. When my Blazers or other plastic vanes get a hole or tear, accuracy usually goes south.

I have some on a set of easton arrows for my recurve the do fine dry or wet. Only problem I had was one went mostly through a target and ripped the feather right off the shaft, but not much coukd have avoided that.

We have an early season here its earn a buck. you have to take a doe first. The first couple weeks there's not alot of people out so the deer are usually calm and i can get a few for the freezer

That, is the exact reason I wanted to learn to build my own arrows. Now when I destroy a vane, I get to decide what arrow to build next. It's cool actually. Now I can see what all the fancy arrows I see on youtube fly like. 3 fletch no problem! 4, sure! 6, ok!

I kinda wanna build a six fletch with really short vanes to see how it will behave vs three taller.

Same. 3 pins (IMO) is sufficient and easy to remember (20, 30, 40 yds)

Same. And you should practice with a full quiver (or however you are going to have he now set up hunting). Need to get used to the weight and balance with the quiver and arrows installed if that’s how you’re shooting when the time comes. Train as you fight to get used to the feel.

I lay my bow in the bow case when out practicing and I still keep it buckled in the case when not in use, in the garage.

Nothing fancy. Good luck to everyone as seasons start! Where I’m heading for elk just had 6 cows and 1 bull in the immediate area. Fingers crossed!!!!!

Went out mule deer hunting and spotted this guy at 63 yards bedded down. Got to 39 yards and he stood up. Bad move on his part!
