If you're up for the challenge there is a few of us going up to AOP in TN, it's about 2-3 hours depending on where you are. It's a super awesome off-road park but beware if you do any trials that aren't green expect some body damage unless you have armor. You don't have to take your rig you could ride shot gun with somebody.

Here's the thread for the trip:

The runner looks awesome. This was the FJ I was thinking of when you mentioned one, saw it again this morning.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Nope not mine, but I know where that is. About 1.5 miles from me, I believe. That FJ was recently acquired. If you like 40’s come by and drive mine around..we can go grab a brew in the village.

    @BYJOSHCOOK

Thanks for the invite. Let me look at where I will be. I would most likely bring my 80, as it’s currently built to take anything I throw at it. Or I will bring my ‘85 Truggy.

Man I appreciate you being so generous to throw some links my way to help me navigate to the gold! I will graciously give you a beverage of your choice when we meet on the trail. Or hell, I may bring one of my hot rods up to Cafe Octane as I see you mentioned frequenting that place.

@Built2Ride tell us about your 80. What year? how is it set up? Are you on MUD? I have a 93 FZJ, locked, lifted, geared, part timed, blah blah blah.

I noticed it had relocated to the other side of the park, it used to park on cherokee just north of the zoo, which is how i go to work everyday. Would love to grab a beer and check out the FJ sometime, i'll hit you up.

The 80 is built like most. My friends own a shop in ATL that I Wheel with ACC Toyota.
Anyways I bought it off CL for $2500 locally. Had 160k on it. It had factory lockers and was very clean and very white ;) actually had all the fenders!

I lifted using an Ironman 2.5” HD kit, and Slee Sliders (if anyone has not run these, they are stout!), Ironpig full skids (heavy as $hit, get a buddy to help install, or man up like me and pinch some fingers!!
What else...had a rack, got knocked off.

I part-timed the TCase to selectable 2wd/4wd (IMO Do Not do this to your truck, you can’t reverse it easily). Also the truck is meant to be full time 4wd. Being so loaded down and heavy...I drive like I am trying to win a rally and it was not a good mix.

Run on 35s, and heavy ass cooler ;)
    For my snacks.

$2500 is a steal! Mine is white as well and was already built when I bought it. It was already part timed with a Marks 4wd kit. I like it, but never drove it full time, so don't know what I'm missing.

Yeah, the 80 is like an elephant vs. the big 4 wheeler feel if the hi lux trucks. I had an 82 LWB 4x4 that I drove like it was a race truck. The 80 is comfortable just slowly sloshing into a mudhole and chugging her way out the other side. No need to bash. She sinks to the bottom like a fat hippo and climbs out without a struggle versus trying to float across the top in a light truck. It took some learning.

Most definitely it’s one of Toyota’s strongest trucks, being that it’s the last straight axel LC, it has a special place in the history of yotas.

I enjoy my Taco and have been driving Toyota 4x4's since 1987. The 80 series is the culmination of everything Toyota learned, and is near perfection. IMO, the 80 series is the pinnacle of Toyota 4x4's and perhaps the finest, most rugged vehicle ever made.

Last year I had a deposit on a '90 HDJ81 locked 5 speed with factory winch, center console fridge 1HDT-FE diesel. I just couldn't pull the trigger. Before buying my Taco, I was close to all in on a HZJ75 Troopy from Tasmania, but it needed some work on the 1HZ diesel engine.

I like your 40. The first test drive I ever too was test driving Milton Martins personal 1970 FJ40 that was baby blue.

Check this out. I found a sweet spot in a atlanta that outfits rigs for an extended camping trip! That’s Glamping!

I have been debating over the GoFastCampers...Habitat..or Alucab.

After watching Andrew St. Pierre White set up is Alucab in 30 seconds, that's what I want, but the queen wants a big RTT bed, so we'll end up with a Tepui, CVT or ARB Simpson III.

Awesome link- we drove to Chattanooga to look at CVT's. After seeing that the CVT and most all RTT's are Chinese and versions of the same, I began to look elsewhere. Great that someone is close for this sort of thing.
