Now that Pelfreybilt is no more, who has similar geometry rock sliders?

RCI sliders have the same basic geometry except for the short connecting pieces between the square tube (under the rocker) and the outer tube. Pelfreys were angled and RCI’s are straight. I wanted the pelfreys but lead time and cost was too much.

I hope that last bit isn’t too soon.

ETA: I’m very happy with my RCIs, they tuck up nice and tight and they have saved my rocker and side several times already

 

I went RCI. Local (no shipping cost), DOM outer tube for strength, bump out, bolt on with additional holes if I want to drill my frame, and they have angle options. Haven't gotten them yet though, just ordered on the Labor Day sale.

 

I sure hope somebody investigates them before their chapter 7 gets approved. Sure looks like a lot of fraud to me.

 

For sure. The bumper I made was heavily influenced by their hybrid bumper.

 

I understand what you're saying about the kickout. Here's a pic of Mobtowns and how their kickout is a smooth transition. You can also see how freaking beefy these things are.

What Makes Mobtown Offroad Sliders the Best

 

I like budbuilt and BAMF.
There are others that look good too like SOS and mobtown. but these are ones I have or have seen in person. Budbuilt on the wife's truck, and most of my friends run BAMF.

They've earned a bad name for themselves as a company around here, so folks give them a pretty hard time. Also, some of their steel products are known to rust faster than anyone else's

 

I knew about the bad name. Things went south pretty fast for them. I always thought their products were some of the beefiest though. I'm in California so no rust for me.

They're bumpers in particular were near tinfoil

 

No experience with the bumpers. That sucks though. Seems like Trail Gear is "righting that ship" though.

Steel is steel, but an I-beam resists bending better than a flat plate. Design counts for something. We add a couple of key features that others aren't doing. So are talking about a complete design not just the strength of the material.

 

DOM vs HREW, kickouts vs none, bolt vs weld on, and gussets help as well. Slider/bumper designs are all very similar, and unless they are made from fence rail/tin foil will all protect our trucks all the same. Everyone has their favorite vender or the vendor that they purchased from so everyones opinions are just that. I have not seen any scientific tests comparing different vendors armor. I like to support local businesses so the armor I purchased came from just down the road.

There are several good vendors here. Really can’t go wrong with any of them unless of course it’s you know who.

 

My bad, you're right. I clearly should have consulted you before I spent a bunch of time designing our sliders to fix clear deficiencies we find with other designs. But since you're the resident expert on designing sliders, you already know it was wasted efforts.
