Relations Racing Rock sliders

Anyone have any experience with Relations Racing Wheels? To be more specific I'm curious about their bolt on frame sliders.

Not looking for opinions on weld on vs bolt. Just wondering if anyone has ordered from them and their experience. $600 for frame sliders already powercoated sounds really good.

that thread showed the day after my SDHQ sliders shipped. you know, the ones that are costing me about $1700 after adding up everything incl sandblasting, powder coat, and shipping? i hope these things earn me money or something. next day: RRW with powder coat, same weight, half the price.

the raw sliders from them are like $950 right now. then add it all up. shipping alone was $285.

i could have gone cheap before but decided not to. going for quality and lighter than most is tricky, and that's what this is about. i saw the price. i bought them. making jokes but actually no complaints yet. they should be here any day now, then to blast and coat.

 

Typically with these items, you get what you pay for.

 

I know with the Mobtown Offroad ones, you get parts that actually wrap around the frame of the truck making it much stronger.

These look like they just bolt a flat plate to the frame with four small tabs on the bottom.

 

that's the idea pretty much across the board with all the mods, all the things. everywhere. just won't buy if it's crap.

 

True, but the RRW sliders support the weight of the truck jacked at any point along the slider. How much stronger do you need it to be?

For what it’s worth, this is limited time pricing on a new product. He said in the thread that the price would eventually go up to $800. Standard finish is higher than that, I believe.

 

Isn’t the frame a c-channel design though? Just curious how they wrap around it - that sounds cool.

It is.

Imagine drawing a rectangle around the "C". We also use square tubing for the main structure (vs the round) and DOM for the outer hoop because it's stronger (but more expensive). And we add a gusset tube to support that long cantilever of the rear section of tubing. And we gusset all the support legs. And we include Grade 8 hardware, the boxing C clamp and clamps inside the rear section of the mount plate. Our design is certainly more complex then these but it also doesn't require you to drill your frame to get full strength capacity.

 

The Hi Lift test is a static load. It doesn't take into account the higher forces from inadvertently dropping onto a rock.

RRW has been great to me. These sliders bolted up great! (I did replace all the hardware though) with @boogie3478 filming, we did an install vid of the sliders here:

 

Very true, but just about every slider on the market is constructed of HSS pipe, making the laminated steel frame of the truck the weakest link in the chain.

I’m not claiming that the RRW product is better than any other. I just think that the delta in yield strength between options is probably pretty insignificant. Maybe I’ll dust off my AISC manual and try to calculate it.

Edit: I assume HSS steel is being used. I should probably verify that.
