I feel if when driving the truck on the highway without cruise control and I have very little problem with the shifting , they should be able to make the CC do much better than it does. You are right in that some may be expecting more of an Escalade experience though .

As does mine when it happens. Within the first 5-10 minutes of driving.

Someone mentioned that this is not a luxury car so don't expect the cruise control to work as such. I have driven much older/cheaper vehicles were the CC works much better than this Tacoma. I refuse to use it in its current state as it is awful.

I'll agree with this. Under ECT, the transmission shifts rough as hell.

Yes, all of the complaints from current 3rd gen owners are just made up out of thin air.

First, that wasn't the point of his comment. He was making fun of the Toyota community thinking the current gen (whichever that is at the time) is terrible but the past gens were fantastic.

    Second, stay on topic. :hattip:

Maybe you can ask if they are going to look at people in other regions. I noticed your in FL, so roads are pretty flat, however one transmission quirk is maintaining highway speeds without downshifting. In PA i get a lot of quick 6-5-4 downshifts at moderate inclines, it seems like 5th isn't enough of a jump and 4 is too much, it accelerates quickly. TSB helped somewhat maybe 50% better. I'm not sure if this is a engine just doesn't have enough torque or a problem with the throttle limit before downshifting, but it seems silly to drop 2 gears at highway speeds on inclines empty no cargo just me. I just don't think you're gonna replicate that in FL. Highway cursing mannerisms seem off to me. The only time I would downshift with the 2012 was on steep hills, the kind where they make a 3rd lane for trucks. 4% grade or higher.

Need to redesign the transmission and engine selection for this truck. Big fail by Toyota. Maybe they’ll get it right in 4th gen....2026???

No and no. get used to it. All truck manufacturers in the US are going to increase the gear count (some are now to 10!), more efficient engines, and try to squeak out every MPG they can to meet requirements. It is what it is. I'm just trying to do my part to help them fix what we've got.

4Runner hasn't had it's redesign yet. It's coming. Tacoma isn't a full size and it won't ever be.

rear diff leak, seep, weep, etc. what ever they want to call it. Maybe just give them this website and tell them to make an account.

Tundra is a full size. Tacoma isn't a full size. See how that works? You can't compare a full size, V8 truck to a midsize truck made for economy.

Now, we aren't here to argue how the Tacoma should be like other trucks. I asked for specific suggestions to bring to the engineers. Have any?

It's cool they're doing this but honestly I could reproduce most of the complaints within two minutes of getting on/off the freeway during a test drive. What more confirmation do they need than how the truck behaves under normal conditions.

mentioned earlier, my truck doesn't have the diff leak so I can't really argue it.
Also, the mispelling of your user name bugs me. I didn't think anyone out of High School even considered it.

Tbh you are wasting your time OP. Dealer is just trying to quell your complaints. The regional field reps “engineers” rotate their visits routinely. This is a pacification tactic and will be fruitless.
