You might be able to bypass it and meet us in Keene to save time. Depends on others as well. I'm in no rush and am flexible.

Also, if it doesn't work out, I can give you a sweet drive if you've never been by Killington and that area. Used to drive it for work all the time.

But again, up to everyone on times

Alright. Input time. Looks like we will be doing 2 forest roads. This will cover almost 3/4 of the South GMNF. Aside from any unexpected events, we are good to leave mid day .

There will be about 26 miles of Forest road. Nothing crazy. Just dirt roads with sight seeing. From the turn off in lower VT and up to Emerald lake is about 62 miles.

As an option, there's a place to split off and take Kelly stand Rd and shave about 20+ miles off and is a very direct way to emerald lake, and is also a nice drive. That road I have done. Follows a nice Brook down the side of a mtn.

Keep in mind, the whole route will probably be over 2 hours from the turn off. Go ahead and tag me if you're interested, what time range you can be there (give a range to help others), and whether you'd like to do the whole thing or half of it.

Mind you I am winging this, but with the aid of multiple maps.

Also, for those who are traveling far.... The town of Manchester has lots of restaurants, and a darn good pizza shop. So if you want food either take the half trip for more of a direct approach or come back down past emerald by about 10 minutes.

hmm. maybe this is better done on the way home Sun..? Looks to be about 4 hrs for me from work to the start of your highlighted route.

Best case: I get there at 1600, which puts us rolling into camp at 1830-ish and sun sets at 19:04

I'm game for anything - I literally have no plans for the next three days. I'll be ready to go and leave my house around 10am tomorrow from Boston. I have done 70% of the packup of the truck already - I just need to go prep food/resources today.

Might be. And it's all exploratory for now. No real tell on how it'll be. Have you ever been down rt 4 in VT? That trip is 4:09 vs the 3:57 If you did it direct. It's all broing as hell until you get to VT. But then rt 4 gets into real nice mtns and valleys. Both Harpoon and long trail have brewery's along the way if you need to wet the whistle, or theres a few snacks shacks and what not.

Theres actually an amazing gas station / county store / deli at the base of Killington that has to be top 3 sandwich places of all time on my list, and I worked on the road.

But yeah. Up to you I'm probably going to say I'll be at the start of that area no later than 3 for sunlight reasons. Should leave enough wiggle room.

I'd like to be at the start of that road no later than 3. I'll let the people at work put their 2c in and I'll give a final meet up time around 6 tonight. Because 3rd shift life
