Your genny would burn 30 gallons in a week? What size is it and what are you running with it?

Aha, that explains it. I have a 5500 watt that I use during outages, but the 6 gallon tank on it is more than enough for a week. But I only run it for a couple of hours a day. Just enough for showers and to keep the fridge/freezers down to temp.

Worth stating to those of you with CB's channel 9 is for emergency use and 19 is a general chat/ monitor channel.

Little knowledge could save your or someone in your areas life

How much water can our trucks cross through? We took my truck over my wife’s car out of there with the thought that we could safely cross low flooding on the way back but I’m curious to know how high is too high?

Also, I’ve gotten reports out of Jacksonville that the looters are already out and scouting through neighborhoods. Jacksonville PD is aware and is upping patrols through some of the larger neighborhoods.

I've always been told rushing 12-24 inches will sweep about anything off the road. Personally non-moving water I would go a foot and drive slow so water don't splash all in the engine bay. After Matthew I was driving around flooded creeks and driving through 6-10 inches of moving water and I was not comfortable doing so (single cab 92' F-150). Others can probably chime in as well.

We haven’t had any canvassing down here yet but the older folks are walking the neighborhood (patrolling I think) much more than normal. Joke may be on me in a couple days when a senior citizen tries knocking down my door with her cane.

She asked him that and he said they’d worry about it later.

Way better than the Houston Mayor... Telling people in Memorial to stay put they are ok and then Engineers open up Addicks & Barker Reservoirs and flood that ward in less than 6 hours.
