Peasants breathing your dusty ground level air. 2019 pro owners will be laughing all the way to the next stream crossing...

I can't help to wonder how many people will try to use this as a snorkel and destroy their vehicles.

Yes, if it was actually a water snorkel and not designed for desert dust only. Toyota does not call this a snorkel because it does and will not work like a snorkel. It was not designed to give your truck any more ability to cross a river compared to any stock 3rd gen. It was designed for desert dust not water.

Chevy/AEV is calling it a "snorkel" on the Colorado Bison, but it seems like it may be more of a desert air intake also. "Customers will also be able to purchase an accessory snorkel for ZR2 Bison from AEV, ideal for air filtration while driving on dusty trails. This feature is available for all Colorado pickups." https://www.aev-conversions.com/zr2-bison/

Sorry, I should have also added the <SARCASM> </SARCASM> markers. Because you know some ID10T is going to use that exact logic to hit your stream crossing scenario. Bad fording decisions are still bad decisions.... I see it all the time here in the forever raining south.

If I had cash to burn I'd get a '19 Pro in Super White, no snorkel.

Aren't all snorkel primary made for driving in dusty conditions rather than river crossing? If I remember correctly, you first started seeing them in Australia for driving in the desert.

Taken from the ARB Safari snorkel product page:

Snorkels are for more than just deep water crossings where they ensure water does not make its way through your airbox and into your engine while crossing rivers and unexpected floodways. The fitment of a well designed and constructed snorkel, just as importantly, protects your engine from dust while travelling along dry dirt roads. The fitment of a snorkel repositions the air-intake to a much higher and cleaner location greatly reducing the amount of dust passing through to your airbox and filter.

What's more surprising is it doesn't seem like you can get 4x4 on the SR or SR5(at least in my area).

I'm not looking to go through lakes, ponds, or follow the Colorado river. I'd just like to feel more comfortable if I had water coming close to the top or over the top of my wheels.

Some of the low lying areas on the trails I hit fill up with enough water that the water goes over the wheels of the jeeps I go with who are running 33's and 35's.

I stick to the outside the best I can in those situations and still would with a desert air intake, but would feel more comfortable knowing water could not enter the air intake.

It's fake because it's not scooping anything. Except owners wallets.

it never does but it helps those without them cope. it gives the truck an aesthetic
look, nothing more but many have a boner over it not being functional.
