Just the drive wheels (rear). Even 4x4s usually only put them on the rear, putting them on all 4 corners is for real gnarly situations IMO. Plus if the chains up front come loose or break they can wreak havoc on the IFS

That's why you don't get the wimpy ladder chains and buy the heavy duty spiked vbar ones instead. Less chance of them coming apart

I slipped out of a sets of chains this winter, didn’t have any bungies to get them super tight. Almost ended up a bad day.

That was the day I almost ran out of gas.

I would never use chains without bungies unless it was just to get a few feet out of a hole then take them off, that's bad news

I've done it once with a ratchet strap. But I sacrificed my chains last trip to death valley when @m3bassman and I chopped them up to make exhaust hangers

I had to turn around haha, I put
17.2 gallons of gas in my truck when I got to a station.

Didn’t go to the mountain without spare gas again after that

Snow still sucks with RWD unless you have good tires, lots of weight, or something that isn't RWD only

It really depends on the snow type, snow is not snow. I noticed that Northern California snow is really wet where North Dakota snow is really dry. It's the ice and compacted snow that really messes people up around here. I once drove a 100 plus miles in a no travel advisory in blowing snow and I hope to never do that ever again. I couldn't see but maybe 15-25 feet in front of me.

That's the most dangerous thing about snow, it's never the same. I've blasted through over two feet of powder in my truck, and I've almost gotten stuck in 5 inches. Same as I've done 55 on packed snow and not been even nervous, then had other times where you can barely make it up the driveway. I love it though

I felt bad because we had to drive past a ton of people trying to flag down help. There were countless cars stuck and I tried helping a couple but the second car I tried to help, ended up spinning his tires when my hand was still in his wheel well trying to locate his tow hook so I just up and left. People were in panic mode and I just wanted to get us out of there.

Or just a Subaru or something, hell even an AWD mini van would be better than your truck in snow.
