    Or rent a 4x4 suburban.

    Or go somewhere else.

Or watch the weather, if it’s not suppose to snow you’re probably in the clear.

Mostly I'm just saying you should check the weather and conditions for the day(s) you want to go up there, if conditions are good for a 2wd then go for it. If not, consider other options

You'll be fine, just take it slow and keep your head on your shoulders. Drive assuming you won't be able to turn or stop. If roads are that bad they'll close them.
Also, if you can, when you first hit snow find an empty parking lot or something and hoon around for a while getting a feel for how the truck handles, intentially spin out to find the edge and how to correct, practice stopping and stuff like that too, quickest way to learn. I'd also probably disable my abs for the trip, if anything will kill you it's that lol

Chains or no chains. Forget it in a 2wd. Best bet is chains and prolly 500 pounds of sand in the bed. I would never think to venture out in it to "have fun". Too many people get an ego and then end up in the hospital or dead. Lots of nice (actually a lot of 4x4) trucks get totaled every year around here because of people who think they are invincible. You can go in snow with 4x4, but stopping is where the issue lies. I only drive in it if I have to, having fun in it are what atv's are for. Especially if youve never driven in it.

Anyone here ever driven long distances on ice covered roads? I once drove on about 20-30 miles of roads that had a 1/4 of ice in South Dakota. I don't think I ever got above 10-15MPH for that stretch. I was lucky the road was a nice straight line with no hills, but every time the wind blew my truck would get pushed sideways

I rode with my dad on ice for about 25 miles once. Terrifying experience. Didnt even buy anything at the gunshow we were headed to.

Plenty of snow down here if you head up in the mountains. Stop by my place and we'll go up to Big Bear in my truck :D

And one of my little car, drove home in that with no chains and never had a problem, so it can be done in the right conditions in a 2wd just fine

You need huge amounts of clearance all around to run them on the front, since you are moving the wheels around as you steer.

I've never used them, and feel like they are kind of a gimmick, but wheel socks could be an option for the front
