Dealer invited me to have Toyota Engineers look at transmission

I already had that done , if you read carefully you will notice that it’s the vibration while braking that I’m chasing NOT the shift points , very happy with that tsb

 

How noticeable is it? I came from something that had vibrations and may not even be noticing it.

 

Mine comes in right at 30 mph while braking or decelerating to around 10 mph feels exactly like I’m driving over rumble strips , sometimes it’s so bad that it shakes the glovebox door , it’s not tire or wheel or warped rotors , it’s in the driveline somewhere . You’d notice it for sure

 

Sure it's not a wheel bearing ? My POS that I still have like to blow those. That was what I was coming from.

 

You guys have vibrating accelerating slowly from 30-40mph? My dealership said that it was normal

 

I do not. So not normal. Unless mine abnormal by acting correctly Lol

 

I threw a fit because I brought it back with only 150 miles and they let me test drive another brand new truck and it also had it so I’m assuming I can’t be the only one

 

Mine is very pronounced when coming to a stop , there is some mild vibration under acceleration but I’m kind of used to that , all four of my 2nd gen Tacoma’s had various vibrations here and there . This is much more pronounced

 

And manual trans too, although Toyota engineering has rejected that.

Transmission "quirks" I've noticed. 1. Hard downshifts when coasting and decel. Feels like getting tapped in the rear bumper and a jump in RPMs. 2. Seemingly unnecessary downshifts into 4th in cruise at 70+ and staying there too long. I'm an easy/energy-efficient driver, fwiw..keep RPMs below 2K pretty much all the time around town.

There’s hundreds of posts on this and you are describing it to a T. This is VERY common on these trucks.

Go buy the $60 ECGS clamshell bushing and make sure you get the right one for your model of truck (based on differential size)

BTW there is also a TSB out for the stock leaf springs because they are missing about 2.5 degrees of angle kant, which does cause driveline vibes on some models. The EVGS bushing is more common for trucks with some sort of lift applied.

It's not the 0 that bugs me, it's the "e".

 

I’ve noticed a “pause” in acceleration when giving it a moderate amount of gas from a standstill. You can feel it accelerate, and then not, and then accelerate, and then not. It doesn’t stumble, but just stagnates for a split second.

 

I've occasionally experienced this as well. I'm gonna have to go out and see if I can nail down recreating it this weekend.
