Friend of mine lives in Lawrence, says they got evacuated and are living in a hotel. Can't even get necessity type stuff from the house, and some people are looting.

@DrFunker its been an epic three days.. my shoulders are held together by strings right now

 

A guy at work said when he built his house he didn't have natural gas put in because he's been to so many gas calls on the fire department and wanted no part of it.

I heat with mostly oil, some propane for an insert in one of the fireplaces. I'm probably around three miles from any street with a gas line.

 

My house had a gas stove in the living room when I bought it. I uninstalled it and put a pellet unit in there instead. But it wasn't because I was worried about blowing up; it was a pig and running it was expensive. The pellet unit keeps the house warm during the shoulder seasons much more cheaply

 

Yeah, I want to get rid of mine eventually too. It isn't cheap to run. I think I'm going to put a pellet insert in the other fireplace next year since I use that room more often, so it might stay a while longer.

I have a buddy that is a locksmith for the DOC and he was just sent up to the area to start opening houses. They told him it was till further notice

 

is this so looters won't break down doors? Seriously, didn't realize that DOC would have a locksmith on staff.

 

I think it's so Columbia gas can enter the locked houses to get at the lines without having to breakdown doors to the houses.

 

I figured there was a emergency type reason, just need to be sarcastic. Already dealt with 2 fights today. 7th graders
