Well that's good to hear. Didn't know how bad the outer portion was affecting you. Thanks for the update.

Do you mean stock tires? I wonder what percentage of 3rd gen OVTune owners have stock tires.

I changed mine out a week after buying the truck

Every single person that buys one to begin with... some of us don't take it offroad or have any need for big tires

Im not talking taco owners cuz stock, non modded tacos are the majority. The percentage of folks who mod them is low. Here on TW, its the majority though I feel. Im wondering how many OVTune owners have stock tires. Id bet that number is low.

Mat has indicated that Toyota/work trucks have been interested in the tune, they'll all be stock.

I’m speculating but I don’t even think the OVTaco had the stock tires on it for long.. I doubt Mat would put them back on for any further development but I cant speak for him/them

Still a ton of 3rd gens wearing out their stock wranglers... and also a ton who have upgraded, but those MT2s (best I can tell) are at least a 55lb tire and I don't think there are as many folks who went that beefy. Stockers were in the mid-30s so that's a big jump in rotational weight. I upgraded slightly to Cooper AT3 4Ss which are 42lbs

Thats a dope name! The OVTaco! The OG OVTaco in fact!

So other than @acemastr, who in here has stock tires on their 3rd gens? Just an informal poll of folks in here....

Wheels or tires? He doesn’t have stock tires on his truck...neither do most people on here, but he calculates for that.

Remove limits on LOW END TORQUE

Edit for smartasses: Remove artificial tune related limits on low end torque. Ya ya physics force X distance blah blah blah. No shit Sherlock :)

I held out with stock Wrangler tires for 24,000 miles. Recently changed to 265/75/16 Falken AT3W, each weighs 44 lbs. Stock Wrangler weighs 37 lbs. With stock tires, I felt 1.02 and 1.03 OVT shifted too aggressive. No lift or armor or extra weight.

I drove 1.04R 91 with both tires, the stock Wrangler drove MUCH MUCH better on the conservative OEM shift pattern of 1.04R. In fact, shifts were just about perfect with the lighter stock Wranglers. The 1 inch bigger, 7 lbs heavier Falken made the truck shift too early, the 6-5-4-5-6 highway gear dance also worsen with the Falken. Changing to the Falken made a very noticeable difference in the way the truck drive.

I definitely understand @acemastr concern with regards to shifting, especially for those on stock or stock like tires, same tune DOES make a huge difference with something as simple as bigger / heavier tires.

Perhaps @OVTune can release different shift maps, like he did with 1.02C release with shift A, B, C. Maybe his power map vs regular map release contain different shift characteristics?

It is clear there isn't going to be one map that satisfy everyone. Custom tuning can't come quick enough!

Well at some point physics would like to have a discussion...only so much torque can be applied when your opportunity to supply force (combustion events) is low.

Thanks for the physics lesson lol.

I just don't want any artificial means holding back ANY possible force.. not 1lbs/ft!

Some of you seem to forget how much this engine was being held back by the factory calibration. Go load up that shit and have a drive to remind yourself lol.

I still rock my oem rubbers and i off road frequently. The Wranglers aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Some people are just punks or need some more experience off the pavement. Dont use them in snow, but they've been better than I expected in sand, mud, dirt, rock... :crapstorm:

Stockers were OK in snow... but Duratracs are noticeably better IMO.
