Has anyone had issues with clutch pedal interference when tubbing?

I didn’t have any problems with mine. You probably don’t need to even cut that far in to where it would interfere with the clutch throw.

I cut more than @cynicalrider did, but I have no problems at all with the clutch pedal range.

Picked up some 35x12.50R17 Treps today. I'll need wheels. Will 17x9s with 3.5" backspacing clear the sidewall from the UCA?

I have a set of 295/70R17s on 5th gen 4runner wheels and they require 1.25" spacers to clear the UCA, but those wheels have like 4.85" of backspacing

3.5" is just about perfect. They'll clear with a little to spare. The 295s are a similar width to the 35's, and on the 7.5" wide factory wheels they'll probably poke out a little further past the rear lip.

Cool, thanks for the info. The hard part now will be deciding on steel wheels, SCS, or poring over the raceline catalog to see of they have something that fits

Finding em is the hard part lol. Your short list of SCS and steel wheels is just about it. I don't believe raceline has any options anymore unless the brought back the monsters, which are beadlocks anyway.

Yehup, seems like Procomp/Vision are the only ones who make steelies in 17x9 with 3.5" BS and SCS is the only one who makes alloys.

Raceline does have beadlocks, but those are probably out of budget even though I can get them at cost.

The struggle of sharing bolt patterns with Chevies that have like 6" backspace from the factory lol.

right? It seems like most manufacturers fall into the 5-4.25" BS range :(

9" wide and 4.5 BS is aggressive fitment on just about everything but a 1st gen taco, unfortunately.

Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer how narrow the drivetrain on these trucks are in comparison to modern ones.

Looks like I can expect to pay 90-95$ per wheel for steelies or 200+ ea for SCS... SCS do look better but damn, this is a 20-something year old truck

depends. my old maxxis tires had sidewall lugs that had about 1/8" clearance and they did show signs of rubbing. now im at 2.25"bs so that definitely isn't an issue

Which Maxxis? That's close enough that I'd consider running longer lug studs and the 1/4" thick plate spacers or whatever

One think I'm thinking about is going the steel wheel route so I can add beadlocks later on :gossip:

with the 4runner Trail Edition wheels and 1.25" spacers totalling around 3.5" BS I am still rubbing the frame before full lock when stuffed :annoyed:

I don't really want to step up to wider spacers but it seems like I should give them a shot

I’m running 2.5 total BS, and I still kiss the frame at full lock... You get used to it.

Do you think it's worth getting some wider spacers?

Part of me thinks I should stack 2 of mine and tub for that just in case I change my mind on the wheel and tire setup the future. Other part says fuck it, it's fine

You should definitely tub more than you think in order to accommodate for wheel/tire changes in the future.

You need around 2” of total BS in order to not touch the frame. Basically not worth doing unless you’re LT. Just something to live with.
