that happened to me and I just got a stiffer spring and no issues now

 

If you are planning on hard mounting a FirestikII without a spring, it will not hit the windshield.

My antenna is 4' with a spring and driving on Fins N Things, there were some rocks in the way...

The CBI hood mounts can be used for CB antenna or ditch light mounts.
I headed the ditch light mount and moving the antenna to the rear of the bed.

 

Wasn't stiff enough?

 

I just welded a tab to the bull bar of my bumper for a mount.

I got some new bigger ditch lights that block both holes in the mount. And yes sol for 1st gen. Haven't had a guinea pig yet.

 

I fixed all my stiffness issues, yes.

Spring stiffener? Kinda like an aal, but blue?

 

You can get the generic, "mycoxaflopin" or there's a new one that hit the market, "mydixadril". Guaranteed to not disappoint.

 

I have a BAMF passenger side tailgate mount, powder coated black and for free if someone wants/needs it.

So I have ditch light brackets already but I have that for my lights when I have time to install them and I heard the spring would help

 

If I install it on tailgate will it be a problem for my bumper that I will be getting it’s a swing out with tire mount.

 

I would make sure there is an antenna mount on the super awesome dual swing out CBI first gen rear bumper.
@turbodb might be a source of truth as he has the same bumper....

 

Of course you know at least several people here with the technology to take 5 minutes and add a spot to mount said antenna on said bumper if you so chose.

 

@Boomer04 - how far out does the tailgate mount stick? The CBI arms are several inches from the tailgate (unless you have the fold-down tables), but I can measure for you, to be sure.

 

I don’t think Jim has a spring. Mine with spring never hit windshield except when I forgot to remove in a parking garage

 

I removed my spring. Never hit before either.

 

I just bought a Baofeng radio and threw my CB and antenna in the garbage.
