I am also using the aluminum tape. Just seeing if that was the correct type of silicone to also be applying.

If you have a longbed you can probably fit it with trimming. Cut the roof rails off at the middle mount point and buy the new side rails to make the rack short enough. I posted a reply back towards the beginning of the thread with measurements that should work.

I doubt it's even worth trying...There'd be almost no space to fit anything up there anyways

Also curious...How accurate are the build times? I ordered a bit ago and it stated May of 2019 is when it will be completed, but seems like they have a lot of orders to fulfill in the short 8 months span till then.

There's also the rumor of the camper mounted cantilever rack so that might be something to hold out for.

Not sure what everyone else is using, but how about some Gorllia 100% Silicone? Big selling points for me are it doesnt shrink and it can be used to fill gaps up to 1/2", according to the specs.

That would probably work but I used the generic GE stuff. Filled all the gaps and it was a few bucks cheaper.

It seems that they are to the point where they can do 10/wk for the parts and processes that are under their internal control? Maybe estimate 7.5/wk for a projection to account for supply roadbumps?

I wonder what number GFC they are at.

My order number is #1117...Not sure if that's what number GFC I have. Trying to do the math just to see how accurate it is, so I can play a camping trip when I go to pick it up.

Just shooting from the hip here. I haven't done this yet and have only used Gorilla glue. You might want to use something that doesn't expand to fill? I'm just thinking this should one of the rails ever crack. You might have a hard time removing it? Plain silicone will peel up.

Also, anything that expands could blow out and be visible / stick to the paint?

Order number and build number are different. I'd get in touch with Elise and ask for your build number. She also gave me a rough start date when I contacted her.

I believe it was said that the orders started at #1000? Also, it depends where your number comes from. I think there was an Order number and a Confirmation / Production number that you get back from GFC once they slot you in? This is what I am remembering from the initial pre-production orders where things were a bit squirrelly due to the planning and ramp up?

I dont think it expands at all, it just cures properly if applied in a layer of up to 1/2". Also, spec say it dries as 100% silicone.

Yeah I think I have yet to be slotted in - They said they send a second email, which I still have yet to receive. I'm just being impatient haha.

I am itching to pull the trigger myself. I want to be sure that the funds will be available when the time comes, that I have a full go-ahead from the wife ( :ballchain: I know!), and that maybe (hoping!) this tariff BS goes away. I am still somewhat fixated on the old price.

I hear you. That is one of my thoughts / worries also. I have been wanting to call up and have a talk about that. There have been a lot of improvements rolling in also.

If the cash was available, I would have jumped on the pre-order.

That is very true. Like @inv3ctiv3 alluded to, the price might stick even if the :censored: :censored: tariffs end. Or, go up. . .

I don't have anything of value to sell. The GFC would allow me to get out more here in the PNW versus continuously drying out my tent, in the living room. I'm going back and forth between a GFC and a used / cheap enduro for exploring (can't swing both at the same time), while also considering that our oldest will be 16 next August (projecting a car for about $5k or less, insurance, and the high reg costs here. . .), and wondering how long my motorcycle is going to hang on. It has 109,000mi total with 35k on an eBay motor, adding about 6k/yr there. It's replacement would be used VFR800.

Also, I feel that if I wait much longer, they might be delivering toward the end of next summer, esp with more of them getting being seen out in the wild.

The other option would be to put a deposit in late next year when life is sitting pretty and some of the questions / worries are answered? It still might be worth a phone call to chat.
