Companies aren't going to waste time developing apps for niche markets like Entune. It's up to Toyota to make its vehicle compatible with already proven technology like Carplay and Android Auto. Toyota is dropping the ball big time. They use "privacy" as an excuse, but this seems to me to be a choice the consumer should make. If the consumer is worried about the security and privacy of the technology, they can simply turn it off. I have a feeling that this wouldn't happen much if it was available.

I just got the Entune email that they will be removing Pandora in Nov. It's the only app I actually used. Now I guess that Kenwood unit with Miestro will be going in.

Can’t you still play pandora off your phone? I never used the entune apps, just played it off my phone via Bluetooth.

Interesting. The head unit is the only thing I'm really disappointed about with my truck. I have looked on Crutchfield about 100 times, with my mouse pointer on the buy button, but just can't get myself to click it. I would love all the functionality of a Kenwood unit (Android Auto especially), but I just don't like the look of an after market head unit. The JBL unit in my Limited just looks so clean, but Entune is just terrible. I wish they cold update the software in it.

What Kenwood unit are you looking at? I'm sick of the factory head unit. Mine freezes up and has to be restarted every time I start the truck. Then randomly when I'm driving.

It is very noticeable how less reliable xm is on this truck compared to previous car which was an audi. Its not the satellite its the antenna. Entune sucks.

Blackout package - planned: black bed logos, black wheel vinyls, front seat window tint, tires.
My biggest issue with Entune and the head unit overall is that volume is so limited when using bluetooth. I can't get any volume at all out of it when streaming from my phone...it is better set up with a straight bluetooth connection than through Entune, but still not as loud as XM or USB.

Ok, take away Pandora and give us Waze and Apple CarPlay.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
The 16,17,and 18 Tacomas DO NOT use Entune 3.0. They use the older version of the Entune Software. My 17 just started working again after "being on vacation" for a couple months. Why??? who knows -- but I am glad it came back!
BTW I really like Pandora through Entune -- It puts all of your "stations" (music selections) on the head unit so you don't have to fiddle with your phone to change them.

I bought the Kenwood DDX7704 and have been very happy with it. It has Pandora, Amazon Music, Google Music and more. The navigation with Google Maps is great. It has Waze too, but it seems to lockup sometimes. I just hope Kenwood continues providing software updates as the phone OS gets updates.

It's got Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Combine with a Miestro unit and it has 99.9% integration ... it won't use the factory microphone for some odd reason! Haven't bought the setup yet, but this in now on the fall list so I can enjoy a radio free of Entune.
