had my truck in for the seeping rear differential today and now my parking brake seems way “looser” (if that’s a word) anyway to get it back to where I can pull just a few inches and it grabs and not 8” or so guesstimated

Back in my day.... driving in reverse and hitting the brakes adjusted the parking brake.
Also, just using the parking brake lever repeatedly should adjust the parking brake.
Have you tried pulling it up repeatedly to see if it tightens up?

If all else fails there is a small spur gear you can adjust. Need to remove the rear tires and located near the top on the inside of the axle/ drums there is a small oval hole. Stick a small screw driver in and push upward a few clicks.

I have set the parking brake twice since the service today so hopefully in short time it will do what it needs ...

    Thanks

Not sure if third gens are the same, but on my second gen manual you can yank up on the cup holder and expose the parking lever cable. There are two 12mm nuts you adjust and it tightened it right up for me. Made a huge difference.

Just do it while you're parked. Keep your thumb on the button and just yank it up a bunch and put it back down.

That will work to tighten the cable but it's better to adjust the shoes.
