I guess the sway bar issue boils down to the just about the same thing as every other aspect of your Tacoma. Its where you live, terrain, what you do with it, how you drive it on and off the road and how much time its worth to you Vs money and inconvience to use your Tacoma exactly how you want to.

My Tacoma started it's life for the sole purpose of emergency response. Had to run at high speeds to get there, then once there, go through whatever was there, then sometime live in it for up to 2 weeks.

I'm not happy if it can't travel at 1**MPH if needed, jump off the ground if needed, corner at high speed if needed, at the same time within 15mins - hour, whatever, mod whatever needed to run where ever I was to do whatever I needed.

I don't do emergency response any more, it's been years. Now my Tacoma is my baby and my Toy. The funny thing is, unless it's torn apart, I drive it everyday, for work, for play, for everything. If I try to do something and my Tacoma doesn't perform correctly... When I get home, in the shop, torn down, parts ordered.

Lol, I don't put up with sh****t. One rattle, one ping, one chirp... Parked... torn apart, fixed.

When a truck is your lifeline, and it takes care of you, you do the same :)

Literally, since I bought the F150 in 2015, i think I have used it maybe a total of like maybe 70-90 times. I don't even keep it here, don't have the space, stays at a friends house mostly.

What model and what are your experiences with the sway bar? Have you tried it without?

I have one that's been sitting in my garage for 2+ years. Was going to sell the end links and scrap the bar but got sick and haven't gotten around to it yet.

OK, OK, OK.... you guys are brutal. I'll get two trucks! One with a sway bar, one without a sway bar. And then I'll get a dually power wagon so I can pull them both around and have exactly what I need when I need it. Well shit, maybe I need three trucks, one for driving like @jboudreaux1965 , one for rock crawling, and a trophy truck... Sway bar the the @jboudreaux1965 special edition, no bars on the the crawler or trophy truck. Settled. This makes so much sense now. I'll tell my wife we are selling the house.

It looks like your coils are sitting really low on the shock and that's why the swaybar is so close to the spring and seat. I have the OME nitro shocks and 885x springs and my bar is not close to the spring or seat. I can easily get my hand in between the swaybar and spring. My truck is sitting about 3" higher than stock and I have the Readylift 67-5012 swaybar relocation brackets which does position it further forward. Is your spring a larger diameter than stock at the bottom?

@JL8Jeff They are 2.5" springs, so yes, larger than stock/oem. I decided to keep them on the lowest setting because I didn't want the extra lift. Turns out the bottom setting is too "soft" and the ride height is too low. I'll crank them up tonight and possibly remove the sway bar relocation kit. That should fix the rubbing issue. Still wanting to toss the sway bar though... but I'll just settle for a second truck.

swaybars are like condoms. might be a little risky but the ride is better without one.

test it out maybe, just remove it and drive it for a week...

base your opinion off your own experience

I took it off and eventually put it back on. I drive on the highway a lot and it feels much better with it on. I did think that speed bumps felt much smoother without the sway bar.

there is a pic somewhere on TW between two similar trucks flexing on the same rock one with the sway and one without... IIRC @HomerTaco is one of the two trucks maybe he can share it here

I tried no sway bar years ago, the body roll was too much for me. During the Rancho ordeal this year, I ended up taking it off till I got things figured out. Again, I was reminded why you need it on the street. Besides the drift feeling when cornering or especially getting off the interstate, I actually almost rolled the truck on the way to work. Car ran a red light, I was traveling about 50MPH, swurved left, hard, front left tire came off the ground started to tip the truck, left rear tire started to come up, now I'm in the on coming traffic lane, ironically, about to hit a Silver Tacoma head on, I swurved right as hard as I could, left wheels came down, then I had to serve back and forth a few times to get settled, with tires coming off the ground each time a little less.

The idea is heavy front springs and strong shocks will absorb some of that roll. And in my case, stronger leaf springs really reduced the sway

Your point is???? TOYO55C and Rancho9000's at time of incident.

Although in my opinion, Rancho 9000's are so poorly engineered that they should be pulled from public sale for Tacoma's I DOUBT they were the cause with 2012 TOYO55C 810 lb coils?

I pulled mine off about 8yrs ago, when I lived in Denver. There were a couple of places in my local travel that I noted to slow down on (left lane on 6th Avenue turning onto I-25 had a giant off-camber pothole), otherwise it would unsettle the front end notably. I haven’t encountered anything frightening, but you’ll definitely notice a difference on fast cornering, and I’d recommend slowing down on 70 on some of the faster curves.

The difference off-road is also notable. My truck turned into a whole new animal when the sway bar was gone.

Overall, I don’t feel endangered at all without the sway bar. If you drive speed limit everywhere you go, my guess is you’ll rarely see a scenario where it plays. I don’t regret pulling mine at all.

Just got done swapping my sport sway bar for the OR one from @oni06 (thanks again!) and the sway bar from the sport is about 2mm thicker. I drove the truck for a bit without the sway bar and it's not bad. The biggest difference I noticed was the steering, it felt different. I put the OR bar back on since I'm not the only one driving it but definitely will take it off again when I get to take the taco on a camping/trails trip.
