Test drive them all, walk around thinking, do more thinking, look at them prices, write down which 2 you like, test drive them again, come up with your number for the one you want and then beat the crap of the sales person and their manager and if they don't accept your price, then walk away or if they do then enjoy your new ride.

I used to love SR5s but in the 3rd gen I don't think they offer much value anymore unless you're dead set on the 2.7L and don't wanna deal with upgrading the SR.

If you're looking at the 3.5L then either TRD is only slightly more dough than SR5 and gets you all the toys.

What do we know about the frames on the 3rd gen? Are they from a different vendor than the 1st and 2nd?

My '18 2.7 SR5 doesn't have any of that, which is partly the reason I bought it lol. I love the truck though. It only really struggles going uphill at high altitude (8,000ft+) but that's because I'm not one to floor it. It drives like a dream offroad with just Wildpeak AT3's on it, and is super smooth and quiet on the streets. 0 complaints

OP, If you can swing it, I'd get the OR so you can have a rear locker. Otherwise, get the SR5 and plan on swapping the rear shocks for something a little beefier. Pretty much anything is better than what Toyota put on the SR/SR5 models. I can easily compress the stock Hitachi's by hand after only 43k miles.

It should be noted that the stock shocks and tires on the SR5 are ass. And I don't know if they still do this but for a while they were putting some horrible brown color accents in the interior panels too.

Well, if they are so bad on the SR5 and all the other models are much better, then why do most people change them out on the other models cause “they suck” and want something beefier?

Mine has that brown color accent and It’s called caramel. It’s not that bad to me. Gives it contrast. My dad has a 2015 OR Sport and it’s all grey inside. He likes it. I think it’s bland. Point is, it’s subjective. What you think is horrible, someone else might like it.

The 3.5 has been great for me. Just turned 10k and my gas mileage seems to have improved 20mpg city. People will find something wrong with anything they look for a problem in. I choose to live my life differently. Take the test drive, but I would not trust some of these naysayers.
