I’m guessing the OP is a youngster. Typical millenials want everything for free because they are owed it. Right? Toyota owes you for wear and tear items? Toyota has never advertised their trucks can go to infinity and beyond. With love and care they can lead very long lives. Metal corrodes and rusts. Just a fact of life. Parts break. Shit wears out. Toyota doesn’t owe you a damn thing.

When did Toyota buyback 01-04 models?

The 95-00 models were bought back, the 01-04 frames were replaced I thought

Totally agree,Toyota is not responsible for rust belt living owners, yes they made crappy frames and Toyota is fixing the problem, but Toyota is not going too replace your entire old rusted out truck.

People like you sue for every little thing, even wear and tear items it seems now huh.... the frame is not a wear and tear item. Almost every other part of your truck is. If you are sick of rusty cars then the best thing for you is to move south!

I have a 2010 2.7 4WD Base that Toyota did the frame descaling and undercoating on, while it was there they brought all recalls up to date (New leaf spings, catylitic convertor, drive shaft). I replaced the cat myself about 4 yrs. ago not knowing of the recall. They said if I could produce a recept for the cat they would do some kind of compensation for it but I didn't have it. They also gave a 2017 Hemi Dodge Ram to use for the week they had the truck, free. I thought this was great PR. After all that work being done, threw some rear shocks on it and redid just about everything on the front end except control arms and at 133,00 miles truck runs like new. Things get old, things rust, I live in upstate NY. Work done by Toyota 2/18 @115,00 miles

Gilbert2759 - Where is upstate NY are you located? If the dealer is in the greater Albany, I'd like to talk them.

BTW - I'm not a millennial, just an old grumpy greatest generaation survivor. I am getting the picture. They - the dealer & Toyota aren't giving me a loaner in spite of

I'm in New Paltz area, work was done by Toyota of Newburgh. I bought the truck with 32k on it and I don't think truck was originally purchased there. I bought off a dodge dealer lot. They were great and took care of all recalls (frame, leaf springs, cat, & driveshaft). Try em not that far from you.

Are you being serious or sarcastic? I'm honestly curious by the potential for an awesome story.

As far as the rust issue is concerned on 2nd gen frames, the frames were not coated properly coming out of the factory and thus rusted prematurely. This does not include other parts on the truck. Toyota did extend their warranty for the frames out to 12 years past the original date of sale... of course you are well aware of this and getting your frame replaced, as you should. The other parts will be on you to replace. I'm sure if you spoke to the dealer and bought the parts you wanted replaced, they wouldn't charge you for the labor of install. I bought a second gen from Maine this summer, a 2010, it had some frame rust. I had it looked at, and I looked at it myself, the rust was not that bad, it didn't qualify for the warranty. I have since cleaned and coated it myself. However, the toyata dealership did tell me that they would be happy to install new parts for me free of labor charge if the frame needed to be replaced. It basically saves them time because its stuff they dont have to try to salvage.

The only way you are going to get the other parts replaced is by filing a class-action lawsuit. You need to find a few thousand other people to join you.

I am a millennial, and we prefer to spell millennial with two "n"s. I like your post, but I hate that it technically applies to me too. Know that there is at least one exception out there. I love my rust bucket. I love torching the hell out of it, ripping bolts off, and working on a great truck. Then again, aside my account on TW and ColoradoFans, I do not have a social media presence... maybe I'm just an 80 year old man trapped in a 29 year old's body...

Try being nice, maybe too late for that.... hindsight is always 20/20. I'm sure threatening them with legal documents, discussing a lawsuit, and making demands went over really well. My attitude aside, I understand that being without a vehicle is going to be difficult, and if you are WW2 vet you would like to be treated with the respect you deserve. When expectations are not met, it causes anxiety and frustration. I think everyone here will agree that your concerns are valid. I would try apologizing and then go from there. Like you quoted: "Toyota shall use good faith efforts to satisfy that request" - perhaps you should act like someone who is worth giving their good faith too.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
I just got a new frame. Dealership was paid 11 grand to do it. I am calling my truck Steve Austin now...I can rebuild it...make it stronger...faster...better. Been replacing a lot of components with the kick to do it coming from a new frame. The truck has been pretty awesome for 12 years. When it's not, Toyota has taken care of it. I have zero beef with the Tacoma or Toyota over my frame, leaf springs or any of the 'regular' issues associated with the trucks.
