I'm on B04 after the recovery and used legit TS outside of the VM, with a charger, redownloaded the CUW file and I think I might have used a different USB port. So many variables.

I am computer illiterate too and would need a complete step by step with pictures in order to attempt it.

Good to hear that you got back on the horse!

Interesting. Thankfully there seems to be no argument about fixing it.

Got my Tactrix cable a couple days ago and went for it today. Another 11 -> 13! No problems. Followed the tips in this thread and it went great. Didn't even have a battery tender which worried me a bit but it was all over in like 4 minutes. Haven't driven it much yet but 2nd definitely seems better in low rpm situations which was one of my biggest gripes. Thanks everybody!

I'm in Jefferson OR if people nearby wanna work something out. Or like I said I'd be willing to mail the tactrix around for like 20 bucks + deposit.

Mine felt noticeably smoother shifting. Eliminated some notchyness. I swapped to Redline MT90 at 14k. Gonna fill the differentials with redline 75w85 and the engine with redline 0w20 next. God willing.

Can I get a link to the update file with instructions and perhaps a proper list of things to get in order before updating. I already got the laptop and will receive the cable soon.

16 tacoma here, went ahead attempted dealership tsb ecu update. 5 hours later I get a phone call; they are saying I am up to date, and that there is no need to update. After talking about this thread and about how some dealerships are doing the update, I got forwarded to a manager.
Long story short, they wouldn't budge about my truck having the newest ecu calibration. I asked to see a screenshot showing that 04b10 is up to date and that there is no update. They said needed my truck overnight to handle my request since the service department was closing shortly.
Fingers are crossed while I wait patiently.

I have a 2017 Sport. Is TSB 62-18 the right cuw? That zip file has T-0036-18 and T-0034-18. Which one is the appropriate file to run for my truck?

Nope. All MT use the 58-18 CUW file. 62-18 is only AT

33-18 is the one I used for my '17 Sport MT with the B12 ECU version. It won't let you flash it if your ECU isn't compatible.

That's interesting, mziggy sent me the files for the M/T's, 33-18 and 37-18.

33-18 was for the 2016-2017 M/T's and 37-18 was for the 2018's. I flashed the 33-18 with no problems... still have both files if anyone is interested.

I also had the 04B12 ecu calibration FWIW
