I have a Cement OR no tech, no premium. Spent that money on other mods. If you want the OR get the OR. If the Tech and Premium packages are more important to you get the Sport.

The dealer almost had me for the sport, because lets be honest, that non functional hood scoop looks pretty sweet but I just couldn't get over the fugly wheels. Lol. So glad I got the OR instead.

I had a 07' Tundra TRD Off-Road, a 08' Sequoia 4x4, now I drive a 18' Tacoma TRD Sport. In all my years living in Florida, using these trucks on the beaches, not once did I ever use the locking diff. If you're a suburbanite like me and never take the truck on any serious trails, then you'll be just fine with the sport. It looks better in my opinion. The OR does looks good in the loud colors. But to each their own. Do you go off-roading? If so, then I would wait for the OR. You can always upgrade to an aftermarket locker later if you really feel like you need it.

All it boils down to. IMO, the Sport looks better with the matching painted flares and the Hood scoop. A lot of people have given me so many complements on it too saying it looks better without the black flares. But looks are completely subjective. If the Sport wasn't available, I would still buy the OR since it looks like a great truck too.

I'm a city person as well and I personally will NEVER go OR so the Sport for me makes total sense and drives MUCH better around the city streets. But if you're an avid OR, I would definitely go the OR route. It all depends on your lifestyle which is great that we have choices like this.

You would never a Honda Odyssey to the track, nor would you ever use a 911 to transport a group of 4 grown adults. Each vehicle serves its purpose.

Personally, when it comes to cars, I always buy what my heart wants...no compromises even if it means waiting. And I learnt this the hard way from buying vehicles in a rush then trading them early for something I wanted in the 1st place.

I'm in the market as well. Test drove both the OR and Sports. Here's my prob ...I drove the Sports 1st and the fake hood scoop really grew on me. Then drove the OR and it looked totally "naked" without the front scoop. I know a lot of trucks don't even have any hood scoop but once you drive the Sports, it becomes a "feature". I also prefer the Sports handling better than the OR....my opinion only.

I owned the older SR5 Prerunner back in my early days and it never failed me (I do a lot of camping/hiking here in NorCal/Lake Tahoe area and I go do yearly road trips from Sacramento to Oregon). I also prefer the body colored fenders on the Sports .

I'm just waiting on Oct end in the hope to see some clearance pricing on the 2018 models. That being said, my coworker at work owns a '17 OR and he only prefers OR models but he also lives up in the Foothills so drives thru mud/slush/snow in winter and it's his daily driver.

I heard Freeman Toyota has a lot of good deals on 2018 Sport models. Might want to check them out.

Lol, I’m in the same boat. Manual as well, sold it with 68k miles. It was so clean and well cared for. I Did all beisans seals, updated cam gear bolts, did my own subframe reinforcement with HPF plates, the car was mechanically solid, after 3 kids it got real old.
Driving a truck is peace of mind, not having to dodge potholes or worry about scraping wheels.
Goodluck getting another one in 16 years, I feels it’ll do what Porsche does, a clean one will cost an arm and a leg.

The suspension is much better on the sport. And driver comfort features are better. One touch up & down on front windows. Powered rear window. Smart keyfob. Much better stereo. With nav. Wireless charging for a phone. I put 30k on my SR5 and likes it but could resist the TRD. Plus they paid off my SR5 which had over double the amount of miles it should of had

I prefer the OR suspension both on/off road, myself. Doesn't shine in cornering, but I didn't buy it with the mindset of being able to whip it through a turn. I like the 'floatier' suspension that absorbs impacts. Great on the washboard dirt roads I travel often. The streets around my area aren't exactly something you want to feel through the suspension and driving cars with stiffer 'sport' tuned suspensions gets old when you get rocked in your seat every time you hit a rain gutter or uneven asphalt.

I drove both the Sport and the OR. Personally, I didn't notice that much difference in the suspension and ultimately decided I wanted the OR Features. Plus I got them to swap out my TRD Pro SEMA Wheels / Tires / and Steps for free. I liked the look of my wheels better on the MGM OR than the Inferno Sport. Probably can't go wrong either way but I like the classic look of this. Loving it so far.

If you paint your nails and enjoy long walks on the beach, you get a sport. The fake scoop, color keyed flares and bumper to match your nails, is a musta have! You will get all the guys’ attention that you crave.

If you have the occasional dirt under your finger nails, enjoy problem solving / hard work and being ready for almost anything, you get a OR. The stronger rear differential, e-locker, crawl control / MTS, is a must have, to ensure you get the mission done.

“I wish I would had gotten the Sport over the OR”.

    - No one, ever.

On the flip side, many sport owners admit “wish I would have went OR”.

I kid, I kid.... get what you want OP. You will know it when you drive it.
