Mine doesn't hold from four sides, just the two. You're probably seeing my battery lift handle. But its stupid tight compared to the stocker and it keeps in more laterally stable that the stocker too. I can shake the truck my my battery now, before it would just shift around. It's from @Coupe

Yup thanks to sperrunner, after seeing his I got one from Coupe also. I never had much of a problem with my stock one but after my prev battery corroded the tie down, it still looked like shit after painting it. It also got bent out of shape so I replaced it. New one is solid & so much better, looks nice too.

I'm a bit confused- if the original dampener was fine, why was it replaced?
If it didn't cause any problems and is fine, put it back on?

Dampeners are $400-500? Nope. I didn't even try hard and found them for less than $100. Granted they may not be OEM Toyota, but this is not rocket science- non-OEM are perfectly fine.
Link to google search for them- maybe I am confused?: https://www.google.com/search?clien...nic+balancer&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
(EDIT: Personally I would run the Dorman... I have had good experience with their parts. But yes, it's a bit pricey at $200. I think this may be an iteration of Amazon's pricing algorythm puking on its boots.)

I’m working on replacing a water pump for an ‘01 Sienna v6 1MZ-FE. I tried everything, maybe one of you guys can help.

The harmonic balancer bolt won’t come off. My impact just hammered the shit out of it, and a breaker bar can’t get good enough leverage due to the long extension you need to clear the strut tower. Bolt is torqued at 193 ft/lbs. Can’t lock the motor due to lock of accessible inspection plate, starter is a bitch to take off. Don’t have the SST to hold the pulley.

I love the 5VZ even more now because it’s just far better designed.

    Any advice?

    @BartMaster1234

Are you saying you can't wedge the breaker bar in somewhere and crank the motor over using the starter? That always works if you an get it in there. I have had to brace the breaker against the ground before, but prefer the frame as a brace.

What type impact? I have a 3/4" air (<$100.00 at Rural King store) and they really have good breaking loose power due to the heavy impact effect. Rarely does a bolt or nut say no to it.

Installed the winch, sealed the solenoid box, spooled the rope under load.

Those bolts usually come off with a good quality impact. Some are over tightened if they were done before. Those I use my 3/4” impact and they come right off

I have a 3/4 Harbor Freight Earthquake Impact. My compressor does 90 PSI @ 11 SCFM.

Hard to get a grip on the breaker since you have to use a long extension.

Forget 90 psi, try turning your regulator up, as high as you compressor goes.

If that don't work, does the pulley have 2 holes like the 5VZ? Really easy to make the tool.

Yup. I’m using my deep well harbor freight impact set.

Issue is because it’s a traverse engine, you have to use a long extension to clear the strut tower in the wheel well.

It does indeed have two holes. I might have to try that.

@Empty_Lord Is the harmonic balancer bolt on the 1MZ-FE right hand threaded, or left hand threaded?

    Ha. A boosted minivan.

It’s not like Toyota hasn’t done it before.

If anything is getting boosted, it’s sure as hell not going to be a minivan from 2001.
